Very recently I'd spend too long playing this game, often just looking for the single win to get my key so I could turn it off and get back to IRL stuff.
Now though as it can take a great deal of time between the proto stompers and the stacked corp squads ruining most games with their lame tactics, I've started to limit myself to playing only two matches per night. Log in with my alt, win or lose it's two matches, change to main character, two matches and then off.
The game is at the point now where I love playing it, but the matches seem to be incredibly one sided wither way, you're either on the douchebag team, or you're against them and that is the simple truth.
The other small change I made recently was to stop wasting my warbarge components on the experimental lab, yes they are slightly better sometime than the proto counterparts, since they remove officer payouts from it, I see no point in using the lab - plus the fact you could never get any higher than a couple of thousand before you had to blow it all again so now I've got my other subsystems to level 2 or 3 (whichever costs ~25k components per level!?), and my component generator factory thing needs 50k to level up again now which is fairly ridiculous..
So yeah - I urge you to do something if you are finding yourself getting frustrated with dust or playing seemingly all night long just for that one win, limit yourself to 2 or maybe 3 games per night and that's it. |

Crease Release wrote:I've changed the way I play as well. Now before I start up Dust I like to browse around the very earliest parts of General Discussion (first few hundred pages) and read about a game that never came out. It would have been called Dust514, and it sounded awesome. Turret and Supply Depot placement by the Commander Role, MTACs, Fighters, the whole of Tranquility available for ground combat, and the precious Heavy Laser Turrets that True so desires. Then, instead of starting up Dust, I don't. Good times.
If I need a laugh I read the current GD.

That's a good idea too, sometimes if there's 2 keys on offer for a single win I'll persist for 1 or 2 more games but other than that I pretty much just turn it off and go back to my PC (just completed Dead Space 3, I'm on Bioshock infinite now and then I've got MGS:PP next and GTA 5) |
