With this fit I fly around unhardened most of the time. The first time I get hit with AV I hit the Afterburner and fly away, then come back with my Hardener up. I can take more punishment before I have to run because of the Afterburner.
On your first fit, swap out a hardener with a complex light shield booster.
You can fit a xt missile launcher if you have shield fitting OP at 4, and small missile fitting OP at three. I used this fit mainly for swarmers and infantry. It is called HMS Betty White.

I made the fit (although I used an Enhanced Hardener with Proto Turrets) and got a new ADS record - 20 kills, 1 Dropship lost.  This fit is better than the one with the Afterburner, definitely.
Yeah, I figured that would be the case. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that your primarily hit by swarms. I have a guide somewhere in GD telling you how to pilot my baby girl. I'll link it down below, along with Vulpes Dolossus guide.

Python

Playstyle: If the missiles do not get the job done, jump out then kill them with a gun even if your python gets destroyed from jumping.
Ally needs a nanohive? Abandon ship and give him one, proceed to call new ADS.
Too many enemies on the panel? Ram the panel and use your gun to kill whoever you did not road kill. Proceed to call new ADS
Redline sniper? Never heard of it, ram or shoot or jump out and shoot. Die with honor, proceed to call new ADS.
TK'ing in FW? Fly fast and low to drift above the ground killing all allies and enemies you slam into. If ADS dies, proceed to call new ADS.
Enemy ADS you cannot kill? Don't ram him, hit the ground next to a supply depot so you can switch to AV. After the enemy ADS is dead, proceed to call in ADS.
Redline game? Proceed to call in team quota ADS' at the eneme redline for all your teammates to fly (crash because they suck). An ADS dies? Proceed to call new ADS to keep the quota full.
Proven to be effective, right Derrith?
