So I took a good long break from Dust as MGSV came out, so about 3 months now, and I came back to get in on the Rep Tool BPO.
I've played for about 3 days now, and for the most part have been pleasantly surprised. I got several decent and close games in FW and was generally enjoying myself until my last one where I came across some funky enemy behavior from two players. I'm not gonna name and shame 'em, but they were both from a well known older corp.
See, not long before I left this patch happened which toned down strafing speed, and thus far, I had no issues.
But here came two guys in Min Assaults who not only had just as much armor as my Gal Assault, which means they were armor tanked, but were able to strafe fast enough that I was given flashbacks of pre-AA beta twitch invulna-scouts. And it wasn't circle strafing, it was just straight left-right strafing fast enough that they were able to pass through my plasma stream without me even being able to break their shields half the time.
And I'm pretty sure it was specifically just those two and not general game lag as I had no issues tracking anyone else in that game or any of the previous including other Min Assaults. We still lost by clones though, 70-something to 0, and those two players did very well for themselves among their peers.
So anyways, have people figured out a way around the strafe nerf, or was I just having hella-specific lag spikes?

I experience this on a semi-regular basis.
The most common response is that this is latency lag and the game just can't calculate it correctly leading to the player with the worse connection gaining benefits of damage not registering and faster movement speed
Basically the player is not in the same place that you are seeing them. Allowing them to kill you much easier as you chase their ghost

I have had no issues with hit detection recently with the Assault Rifle. Also, what fw do you play?

I've had no issues with the AR either. Even had a couple perfect games.

They are NA players.
Also, my hits were registering, I was just unable to track them for more than a split second at a time before they would sprint to the side again. I got one down to low armor at one point with a grenade, but was robbed of the kill when he jumped of the ledge to his death. His only death if I recall.

My first thought is that those players were playing at 480p.
I've really only seen the strafe be a problem against players that play in 480p. Ari n such. They do this weird time warp time movement thing while seem to barely be spinning. Kind of like the system is trying to catch up to their movement. |

That's pretty much just coincidence. Dropping to 480p only enhances what the user perceives in terms of refresh speed on their screen and has no correlation to what the server receives as input from the player or what anyone else views on their screens. 480p is entirely a client side QoL adjustment that may help in terms of allowing for better judgement and aim, but ultimately is something that is imperceptible to any other player outside of receiving a message from them in all caps.
