So I've read various things regarding HDMI input lag vs potato quality composite input. My TV has a 1080i setting but even with Dust on max settings I get a lot of jagged edges and random artifacts.
Does anyone know of a guide for tweaking your TV/PS3 settings?
I don't notice any input lag, but maybe that's because I've never played on anything but HD. Is it more subtle and I'm not noticing it or am I spared from input lag?
I ordered an SSD from Newegg, what with all the holiday specials - $39.99 for an 120gb Kingston SSD. That should help with framerates and general gameplay smoothness. But as for now my game doesn't look great or run great, I'm just getting by. I figured 1080i would look good, but it looks like crap! |

Yeah the aliasing is really bad on my TV where as my roommate has a similar TV also running HDMI but his game looks 10x better. Lighting effects, aliasing and textures are all improved, except I think he has 1080p. That's crazy if it makes that much difference.
I previously set the in game graphical settings to medium because my PS3 fan was running constantly and the unit was still getting hot. Also my game was and is choppy as hell sometimes, not internet lag.
Does anyone know what the most ideal set up would be between hardware and settings? |

I activated Game Mode on my TV and switched over to 720p and tried it with the PS Upscaler off and Roughness Smoothing off. It didn't look any better, maybe worse.
Stayed on 720p but switched the Upscaler and Smoother on again, pretty much the same if any difference.
I went back to 1080i with smoother on and upscaler off. This looks the best for now, game mode definitely helped with the colors and lighting.
Weird that I can't get the aliasing to improve considering the PS3 IS capabale of rendering everything more smoothly, as seen as my roommates TV which is actually 1080p... |
