The ability to damage the MCC with turrets.
Just do it and let's see what happens. Might be surprised.
Should be a very simple change.

Should be a very simple change. I don't see the problem with damaging the MCC with turret installations. Makes destroying them all the more necessary. Vehicle large turrets though, NO!
Explain your objection. The entire purpose behind this would be to alter the vehicle meta to relevance beyond shooting at infantry all day.

It would turn matches into one big tankfest (most likely from the redline) too much emphasis on tanks being the thing to pull out to shoot at the MCC. Focus shouldn't be shifted to a tankfest situation, especially when it is about just pulling up and firing at a stationary target. This would further stagnate the game. Besides, we have a perfect MCC weapon in the installation turrets and like I said above, this would also give turrets more tactical importance. A better idea for vehicles would be to allow null cannons to be destructible and vehicles can fire at those. They are out there on the map and vehicles would have to move around. Infantry can be more engaged in fighting the tanks too rather than a line of tanks ganged up shooting the MCC. The null cannons are down where the action is otherwise.
I can't really argue against you because your argument is pure speculation as to how players would react to the change. Neither you nor I know how it would really go down. I can predict that your scenario of making null cannons vulnerable would promote just as much "tank spam" as my solution though, so there is no difference. As it stands currently, installations are already farmed by dedicated tankers for points so this wouldnt make much impact on gameplay by itself. Only installations within 400m of the MCC would be able to do anything anyway, and of those, only rails. It wouldn't have much of any impact on the game.
I would, however, like you to define tank spam in terms of numbers. Tanks are expensive and frankly pretty fragile once the enemy team decides they want them dead. I don't think 3 to 5 tanks always being present on the field would really be a problem for the game. Nor do I think that 10+ tanks would be a typical reality either -- even good tankers have to play conservatively if they don't want to go bankrupt.
I do believe that this would shift the meta to focus more on the outside of the map than on the inside, but I don't see that as a problem. Inside points are closer together and can typically be held by a few competent people, while the outside is where most of the MCC damage be scored and where the battle rages the fiercest. In the end, it would just be one meta shakeup in a long line of shakeups. A different pace to play the game at for a while.
Currently, the meta forces most teams to slam as many bodies in the city as possible for the win which, at least at the time of the current Dust build, is very bad for the stability of the client. I think anything we can do to passively push the meta away from that is a good idea.

Should be a very simple change. That use to happen one time in closed beta. Did not go well for the gameplay experience.
During the closed beta period when MCC's were vulnerable it was never an issue. In fact this was all the way back during skirmish 1.0 from what I recall and the reason tanks were spammed was due to a couple other factors. First and foremost...
1. Tanks were free during this period. As were dropships. Both were spammed equally, as small turrets had incredible splash and ridiculous range. Dropships at the time also had no damage from collision, so they were used to smash into people on the ground in a highly trolly manner. Swarms couldnt really do much, so it was a case of either get in a tank and avoid being dropship crushed/spammed from towers, or get in a dropship yourself.
2. Defense relays/installations had to be busted in order to win. You did this with tanks. It was a necessary part of the gameplay at the time, so you couldnt really avoid it.
MCC's were made invulnerable shortly after when we went to the skirmish 2.0 we have now, with one exception. For a length of time, the underside missile launcher of the MCC could be hit to deal damage to it. This situation was eventually patched, but it never resulted in the epidemic of tank spam that everyone seems to fear.
Neither of the issues mentioned above are a part of the gameplay anymore and I think it's appropriate to give the mechanic another shot.
