If you weren't at all around for those days, or have never seen a video of what it was like for closed beta, then do yourself a favor (or punish yourself, depends on how you look at it) and watch the whole video. They couldn't remake this if they had a full and proper development team with the budget to match.
Haven't seen this in a long time, thanks for that. Loved the music, the HUD, the sound and feel of the AR (though, not the clip size so much), the old installations looked great, liked the TTK (yeah, really. But don't ask me after you add dampening to the sauce). Sad but long gone. I did not forsake DUST yet, but I get, if a few things make others decide otherwise:
- Lag, lag and ...lag, - rooftop and CRU+uplink camping - all but gone maps (MCC repair yard, anyone still remember?) - The GRIND (SP is all that is worth killing for, not so interesting if you are past the 100 mil SP mark), nothing to aspire to - no PVE or the like (hackable hidden war chests in-map, anyone still remember the overall excitement of the believed hidden mode to open all encrypted strongboxes?) - no immersion into the greater eve universe, no storyline to follow, no epic arcs: events are nice, but singular in nature, there is no overarching perspective or long-lived agenda (this could even been intertwined with PlanetaryConquest, but no.) - the unfulfilled promise of eve-dust interaction, that stayed nothing but a lip service beyond serving orbital strikes (this could have been intertwined with PlanetaryConquest as well, but no.) - repetitiveness, nothing worth exploring - no hurdles or enemies (structures, PVE enemies, etc.) for only combined Tanks effort to overcome, Tank-team tactics in general is all but vanished
Just some things Iam direly missing...I still lurk around out of pure accommodativeness and inertia I guess, but this should not be a grounds for CCP to build their player base on.
