When i first started Dust and saw the SHOCK fit i assumed that the swarm launcher was a heavy weapon, and i think thats what it should be.
making the swarm launcher a heavy weapon means no scouts or assault guys jumping around spamming the swarm launcher and replenishing all the rockets with nanohives. you wouldnt be able to abuse this without teamwork (a team mate dropping nanohives) as the heavy suit has no equipment slot's ...team work is good.
the weapon is massive, it is so big it has to be on your shoulder, and carrys rockets, carrying many rockets is not going to be light, making it a heavy weapon gives anti vehicle people the ability to choose the forge gun (high dmg un lockable self shot weapon) or if they feel there aiming is not to great swarm launcher ,(lower dmg than the forge gun as it locks on and is more likely to hit the target)
this way you have no jumping rocket spam as the heavy really cant run and jump around with a swarm launcher, it gives heavys 2 options for anti vehicle weapons and the swarm launcher looks and acts like it should be a heavy weapon...and also adds more teamplay .
i think this would be best imo as light dropsuits have a more light weapon for hitting tanks...the mass driver weapons. any thoughts on this are welcome.. |

So Scouts and Assaults have no serious options for anti-vehicle capabilities? |

mass driver, maybe a varient of it ..low rate of fire high dmg ..made more for hitting vehicles.. and a low dmg higher rate of fire mass driver for infatry...choose your playstyle :) oh also anti vehicle grenades. and the big stationary turrets and the turrets your commander can deploy. |

Good luck hitting a dropship with a mass driver.
There are far more elegant solutions to dealing with the swarm launcher vs infantry problem than just hacking away the damage or making it a heavy only weapon. |

Right, so if I see an LAV making a run towards the outpost and its 150 meters away, am I going to magically lob a grenade 150m through the air and blow it up? Trying to say the only anti-vehicle options an assault or scout gets is a short to medium range weapon that has travel time, affected by gravity, and no tracking or locking ability is a "serious" option, is just laughable.
Again, far better and more elegant options to deal with the issue at hand. I actually have a rather organized post in the Swarm Launcher sticky in this forum you should take a look at. |

good idea's but imo seems too lone wolf for a team based game like dust. one guy should be able to take out a tank but it shouldnt be super easy for him. a light suit shouldnt have the advantage of speed and distance imo. im trying to think of ways to make teamplay more usefull than lone wolfing it....good idea's tho |

Personally I dont see why anyone would use the swarm launcher over the forge gun. Its far more powerful, and anyone serious about being a vehicle killer will be able to aim it just fine at a moving target. I personally however do not like how slowly the heavy moves, so I stick with the assault, but I still want to be able to take out vehicles. By making the heavy the only dropsuit, it makes things less diverse and forces specific suits to perform certain jobs. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for teamwork (I fly a dropship after all, I can't do much of anything without help), but I think gimping the AV capabilities of lighter suits will just drive even more people to play heavy. |

yeah the heavy suit is pretty slow, thats why im normally in a light assault suit , but if i see a tank i run to the supply depot and switch to my forge gun and heavy suit |
