To add some variety to the weapons in Dust 514, it would be easier to have weapon attachments that change
how a weapon works and ultimately add further customization to dust. Each kind of weapon will still have
it's variants, such as the assault rail rifle and burst assault rifle, but these variations will appear in
game as the per-filled weapon attachments in the drop suit fitting. In the fittings menu this would look
reminiscent of a per-fitted suit's base modules, and the attachments can all be replaced with other
attachments. I do not feel that attachments would not make any weapon unbalanced, but rather make players
more deadly and have more fun because they can play the weapon they like in the way they like to shoot it.
Because the attachments add flavor to the game, such as suit skins, I believe that they would be a perfect
fit for the Aurum market. (hintity hint hint for the devs who need funding) And having a variety of variant
weapons would keep the game fun and interesting for new players who haven't decided on whether it's worth
dropping some money for Aurum (which is fine). Some examples of possible Attachments are as follows:
-(The myriad of scopes from the COD games, re-skinned to fit with the EVE lore) - Burst-modes, rapid fire modes, breach modes, tactical modes and specialist modes. All of which increase
or decrease damage, accuracy, rate of fire, and alters pg/cpu usage for the specialist mod. - Heat sinks for laser weapons, reduce charge-up time for rail weapons, reduced dispersion rates for
blasters, increased clip sizes for projectile weapons, increased blast radius or condensed blast radius for
explosive weapons. additionally/optionally: all base types of weapons have the same or similar stats, but the mods are what
makes the base weapons do what they do. For example, the charge to fire feature is on the standard
scrambler rifle but not the assault variant. Same thing is true for the sniper rifle. Therefore the charge
to fire feature(Ion pistols), the charge up to fire feature (such as rail rifles), the overheat feature for
increased damage and clip size (laser rifle) and more can all be added as weapon mods instead of baseline
abilities of each weapon type. Long story short, it makes all rifles equal but look different and have the drastic differences how they
are used via weapon mods.
Also keep in mind that these suggestions only impact light and heavy weapons. The idea is to be in
conjunction with the utilities/augmentations post I made awhile back.
Committed suicide....again...
