I Wonder...
If Amarr And Minmatar Tanks Will Truly Be Old Tanks With New Colors... Than...
Why Not Do The Same For New Weapons...?
Maybe A Minmatar Yellow Shields Based Massdriver For The Amarr
Caldari Yellow Shields Based Swarm Launcher For The Amarr Too, Maybe...? ( +%20 / -%20 Would Be Bad ) 
And Other Weapons That You May Think That Could Be Color Changed And Made An Armor/Shield Based Weapon

I'm actually deeply in favor of this method.
But while it is being considered, there is no final word to give on the topic at this time.
Will update as I can when I can.
WoW has taught me that Purple means Legendary. This means Quafe suits are the optimal loadout for killing all of you.

We're up against the PS3 not having enough memory to add any more models to the game right now, as has been said in other places. SKIN changes are a lot more feasible because it's just a color palette swap, but the base model is used by all of the variants.
The more of that we do, the less the PS3 cries like an Emo kid and cuts on itself.

I would suggest as I have before that the weapons which don't have racial variants simply steal from the existing models if new variants are not possible. It's not ideal, but it would be something. For instance make the basic HMG Gallente and change the profile damage, make the Assault HMG Caldari and change the profile damage (and start calling it a breach since it fires like one now), etc. Mass drivers, Swarms, Forge Guns, grenades and several other armaments in this game have weapons and variants restricted to one race. I would like to know if it's possible to simply make these weapon skills race neutral and have each race own it's own variant within the skill tree. That would add racial weapons without requiring new models, just new skins on them and there's a nice selection of AUR skins for these weapons (Pyrus, torchflare, etc) already in game and ready to be put to use for something more than decoration for crap we salvage in boxes and daily missions. All it would require really is an announcement that this is how these variants work now on the login screen and a damage profile swap on certain variants, the colors are unimportant really apart from player preferences.
Is THIS method attractive, and more importantly, doable?
