Then you should be able to reverse boost it, right?
Eventually after getting stomped into the ground for a week straight, you'd get into easier matches, correct?
Considering Warbarge timers rubberband, finding matches takes very long, and matches start with a difference of 25-75% in player count, and clearly a skill gap, it's safe to say that the match making logic is broken, or it is yet ANOTHER thing CCP lied to us about.

I don't really see an issue with mm, just the fact that so many matches lack players.

So another team having 25-75% more players is not that big of an issue?
According to the fine people on these forums, DUST has 10,000s of players. So what's the hold up?

The best matchmaking in the world can't fix a small player population that seems to be divided right now the middle: extreme veterans and 'I just downloaded this game from PSN yesterday' level newbies.
To OP, yes, it is possible to game matchmaking. Matchmaking is comprised of KDR, W/L, and WPs per second spent in match. In order to lower your mu you would need to reduce your KDR, lose matches, and earn as few WPs per match as possible.
That being said, it would take many of these terribad matches before your mu score would drop any noticeable amount. You would have to sandbag for potentially a week or more.

DUST does have 10,000's of people... but they aren't all queueing up for a match at the same time. At any given time DUST has, at a peak on Saturday, 3k people. On average it has around 1,700 here lately.

Still doesn't add up.
If one team has 16 players and the other starts with 8. Then the split should be 12 on 12 or as close as possible. Lack of players has nothing to do with it.
And, the broken match-making was what drove players away from this game in the first place.

The lowest my matches start with is 12 on one side. Not sure what you are dealing with there... ever opened a support ticket with the match time and date? I think the current logic doesn't kick off a match unless both sides have 10 players minimum.
Of course, that is just what the match begins with. The matchmaker can't stop half your team from leaving within the first minute of the match.

Handle what? How can you prosper when the game pits players against one another at a 3:1 ratio? If you are claiming this is intentional by CCP, then I guess when their financial statement comes out in a few weeks we'll know what to blame

oh i'm sorry i misinterpreted the point of your post. disregard.
However one thing I think needs addressed
when MM starts a lopsided match, everyone who joins at any point needs 100% payout for an incentive to stay.

I love how thy gave their lack of competence a name. People blame Scotty, when really they should be mad at the employees of CCP. We should always be saying "F*ck you, CCP"
