Spam prototype gear? If I remember correctly, there was a time when all you ever saw was adv at most, and proto was like experemental gear pre lab Nerf(no more officer gear in lab),it was there but wasn't really worth using. And officer was like the rareest crap ever.
Maybe it was the officer event? Now there's so much proto and all the high tier crap in pubs.

With the introduction of Salvage Boxes I became 100% ISK stable. I'd throw some Aurum at the game to buy some keys to get the Pirate SKINs and BPOs, whatever I didn't use (being as it was Aurum anyway) I'd sell. Because of that I'd put in $20/week or so into the game and run Proto indefinitely, still coming out with ISK profit from matches as the sales of the aurum gear would cover my losses.
Which, honestly, is why I'm against the Salvage Boxes + Keys bundle in the market. At least with Keys only purchases you still have to play the game to get the boxes. With the boxes as part of the bundle it's too easy to go ISK stable without even having to play the game.
And another thing I'm kind of against is the fact that Salvage Boxes give Aurum gear. IMO, should be ISK gear. Aurum gear is nice when you don't have the skills for it but I don't think many new players are putting much faith on/getting much use out of the random aurum stuff they get out of the boxes with their daily keys... Aurum gear is notoriously difficult to fit without constantly funding RL money in the game and to my knowledge those sales are so low that they might as well not exist.
Which, I wonder if there are any performance gains in simply nyxxing the aurum gear from the market entirely and relying on FW to cover the function of being able to use higher tiered stuff at lower skill levels...

I've been boycotting this game for many months. You're all late to the party.

I remember back then when I first skilled pro scout. OMG my dying in one was like loosing an officer dropsuit.
I ONLY ran adv.
Now I run pro and only pro, except sentinel which I'm still skilling to pro.

That's one helluva way of being isk efficient. I just killed my way to the top 2 or three in the scoreboard in the cheapest gear possible when I was new to the game(have a exceptional reaction time from playing cod). I usually broke a nice enough profit. Then at some point I managed to set up a amarr scout fit that did almost everything I needed at the low price of around 15k and I was earning around 6 million every weekend that I was able to play(sometime in spring of this year when I hit 20 mill sp)

Not to say that I'm not ISK efficient without the sales from the salvage box gear, just that it allowed me to run hyper-expensive fits without cause for concern about my wallet. Believe me, there were games where I had 10+ deaths as a proto logi and still didn't put a dent in my ISK wallet.

In the past, I was content to stick to my Advanced or even Militia fits, but everyone I see on my death screen is using Officer/PRO/Aurum gear...So I need proto just to tread water, especially since my primary weapon is the AR and I've got to deal with proto SC/CR/RR nonstop... |

Because the people that still play the game, for the most part, are vets that have been playing for a while. Perhaps they came to the conclusion that money for nothing is pointless. I used to run Basic gear, some advanced every once in a while. I then noticed that I had 123 million ISK. I ran the calculation. Basically, I had enough money coming in to run Prototype as long as my interest held in the game. I just don't use Protoype weapons because the cost-benefit is really quite poor compared to suits and modules.
For the newer players, perhaps they are not ISK stable but "If I am getting nearly 1 million SP a week and I have Prototype gear, why wouldn't I use it?"
But people have been running Prototype gear for as long as they have been able to. This post is essentially "why are we seeing so many cars nowadays?" but rather than being a time difference of 1905-1920's it is a time difference of about 2 years.

If we got rid of multi items that are the same thing but are gotten by three different payment methods could that help performance? 3 items become 1 item LP - Aurum - isk = ? |

Yeah, I'd say, when we went from beta to launch, and CCP refunded all our skill points, and deleted items from our characters, but gave us all the isk value of those items, I jumped from having tons of salvage from battle, including the officer/proto tanks that were in the game at the time, to having tons of isk from the sale of all the stuff I never used. |

Good thing I was a master of being isk efficient. I cut out a lot of costs for things. My AK.0 logi costed maybe 170k isk? I used dual milita sheild extender bpos,a krins mod, basic sidearm and adv armour plates to give me the HP tank while saving some pg and CPU to fit some complex reps, and my uplinks

Because it use to be expensive. I'm sure a proto heavy was 200k+ back in beta. More than the average pay out anyway. |
