Remembrance Day, November 11 2015
Take a moment to remember all those who sacrificed themselves for the betterment of the world and the freedom we have today.
In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields.
100th anniversary of the poem, "In Flanders Fields" by Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae.

We keep it simple, the Prime Minister (our version of the president) talks in ottawa, the capital, right across the street from parliament hill at the National War Monument/tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Last year a reservist was shot quarrying (ceremonial thing) the monument and the shooter ran into parliament. No other casualties but the guy died.
When I last visited Ottawa it was under construction cause it was sinking into the ground so I could't see it, and I was in school today so I couldn't watch any ceremonies.

Arlington Cemetary is in Virginia, near Washington D.C.
Towards the end of the Civil War, the Union was looking for land to bury its dead. The actual property belonged to Robert E. Lee, the Confederate General, and the Union leaders felt it was appropriate to commandeer the land from Lee and bury their dead.
It has been the National Cemetery ever since.
