The icon in the HUD for shield and armor levels remains red even after they've both fully regenerated from being depleted and severely damaged.
Grenade throwing seems inconsistent. Sometimes they'll be thrown "normally," or it'll be as if my dropsuit launches them like a mortar shell. I'm not 100% sure, but I think when you hit the grenade button, the angle is set to where you're aiming first. So, if I'm aiming up a little bit and I move my aim down as I'm cooking the grenade, it'll launch upward. I'll have to double check next time the servers are up. I'm also not sure if it's only for a specific grenade.
I'm not sure if it's consistent, but when I opened the player list right as a match was ending, my console froze.
I tried to spawn on a clone reserve station just as all the assets blew up after A and B were destroyed. This has only happened a few times, but it wouldn't let me spawn. The timer would be blank and I wouldn't be able to do anything except open up the pause menu/Neocom.
When connecting to a match, I entered the war room just as the timer was ending. After that, I was stuck at the black loading screen.
After I stole an aircraft and was shot down, I requested an Onikuma. For some reason, Onikumas kept getting requested and dropped at the same spot, and I'm pretty sure this ended up blocking my teammates from being able to call in anything.
Feedback/Suggestions
It's hard to fully judge the balance of everything with the current issues making everything so jittery, so I'll wait until a new build comes out. Besides, it seems like CCP is already aware that there's some balance issues. For now, I'm just going to say that the Heavy Machine Gun is a tad too powerful.
The current button layout for driving vehicles feels awkward. I feel clumsy trying to steer and hit the throttle with the same stick. Using R2 for throttle and L2 for braking would feel more natural. Or R2 for throttle and R1 for braking.
The aim assist seems to be akin to the kind in Call of Duty's campaigns. What I mean is, my aim seems to snap to a target when I aim down the sight of my rifle. While I can't fully judge the strength of it due to the issues in the current build, it seems like it might be abused in gun fights. For example, a person can just tap L1 over and over to have their aim constantly on the enemy.
Reload should be able to be interrupted by using melee or a grenade.
Get rid of the lowered FoV when entering a sprint, or at least have an option to turn it off. I don't understand why developers think this is good addition, it isn't immersive at all. All it does is give me a headache and cause eye strain. On a similar note, there should be an option to turn off camera sway.
Have an option to tune the strength of the aim acceleration. It would also be nice to have separate sensitivity settings for ADS and regular aiming.
Right now, the text chat is somewhat useless due to the fact that you have to open the communication window to read what people are saying. It would be better if it showed up in the killfeed or a small popup window at the bottom of the screen like MGO had. Obviously we would need to be able to mute individuals that keep spamming nonsense. A nice option would be to type "/mute Playername" to mute them.
The left d-pad button should open the text/voice communications window. Select should be used for giving orders.
Get rid of the auto-spotting whenever you see the enemy. What I mean is, if an enemy enters your field of vision, no matter how far away they are from you, their name and vitals will show up above their head. I also shouldn't be able to see them through walls, they shouldn't even be tracked on the radar/minimap after they've taken cover.
Which brings me to my next suggestion. When you spot the enemy, it shouldn't automatically show their name and vitals. Spotting the enemy should be done like Metal Gear Online or Battlefield 2. [Not Bad Company 2. Battlefield 2. BC2's 3D spotting was horrible.] You bring up a command menu, and aim at the area you want to "spot." In MGO, this would put an exclamation point (!) at the spot you were aiming at, as well as in the mini-map. Your character would also call out "Enemy sighted!" when you did this.
There should be some type of quick command menu. Similar to the command ring and FRAGO marker in MAG, or the Commo Rose of Battlefield 2, or the Codec macros in MGO. You'd be able to quickly mark an asset to attack/defend, request repairs for your vehicle, or request a medic/backup/ammo.
The Nova Knife should have to be wielded if you want to use it. Could free up some buttons if you moved the grenades and Nova Knife to the weapon select wheel/ring. |
