"I pay X dollars a month for internet connection. You pay Y and get a worse connection. I have less lag." Basically, an even playing field can never be created.
But on topic.
As much as I want there to be a port of this game, especially in regards to DUST being what it was supposed to be, this is a nearly pointless endeavor.
1. It is a F2P game. Not playing isn't hurting them. If you really want to make a statement, get people to vow to never spend any money again until a kind of plan is announced for the game. However, the catch here is that CCP may go with the "Well, if it isn't making any money now why would we bother to invest in the future of the game?" Of course "let's all buy Aurum to support CCP!" may just become "why port when we are making money here?" Ohh, the power of pessimism! 2. A boycott of one day is completely meaningless. "So no one logged in today. The next day we were back to the 1,500-sum player mark." 3. The entire point of the exercise is to say "we want a port!" That does virtually nothing to help the situation. Archduke: "So no one logged on today. A forum post was talking about boycotting the game for 24 hours in order to bring the desire of a port to our attention." Frame: "But we know they want a port already..." Archduke: "Yeah, I thought the same thing"
Recap of Vegas. Paraphrasing Aeon: I was walking around with no " decency when approaching the devs, especially the more influential ones that can actually make things happen" and kept doing the "where is the port?!" General shtick is the same: "we have nothing to/can say and we know how frustrating it is for you guys." Archduke gets tickets of a dust covered PS3 that someone used their finger to write "PORT DUST"; they know what we want. Harassing the forums isn't going to get us anything.
As much as I understand the desire, it is fruitless noise sadly...
"This is B.S! This is B.S! I paid money! Cash money, dollars money, cash money!"
