I doubt you just stood still when you were swarmed and killed.
The range he killed me from is the point of the pic.
400m is supposed to be the maximum swarm flight range.most maps are not even 516 m wide, and this was not one of them.
To put it in an infantry perspective, forge gun rounds dissappear at 300m, you would be just as shocked to get forge gun sniped at 400m.

I merely explained how this happened. The same happens with other weapons too: MINA Longstrike wrote: You realise that if you walk away from a projectile after it's shot it still counts towards the 'range' listed on the kill as it only tracks where you were and where the target was when the kill was registered. He wasn't the squadlead - I was and all he was running was commando with AR + PLC, so the AR getting the kill isn't a possibility.
I'm also very aware that the plasma cannon projectile disappears after 200m, but if the readout is saying 236 because you turned around and walked away after firing it *it still counts*, so yeah, 236.4m longer than its actual range because the guy was able to confidently walk away after a single shot.
^Quote from this old thread: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=2235210#post2235210Because you kept flying after taking fatal damage, plus the quite high probability that the AV player was also on the move, you ended up getting a range that was much higher than the max range of the swarms. The problem of the trolls coming out is on your head since you blamed the swarms themselves for the range inerrency when it had nothing to do with them. When you use derisive language to complain about something, you can't expect people to respond curteously. You have no one to blame for that but yourself, so your trolling QQ is invalid.
As anectdotal as this is going to sound, i've been hit plenty and shot down plenty by swarms over the years. Seen quite a relatively few 400+ m ranges, getting hit at max ranges and crashing is all a part of the game.
500+ m is unheard of.

Seen quite a relatively few 400+ m ranges, getting hit at max ranges and crashing is all a part of the game. 500+ m is unheard of. If something is unheard of and yet it still happens, then logically the circumstances involved must have been incredibly unique. Maybe he lagged hard and rubberbanded across the map, maybe he hopped into a LAV next to him and made a mad dash for the redline to change fits, maybe he was already calling in his own ADS when he fired and got in and sped away in another direction while his swarms were flying, maybe the game errored and miscalculated the distance. There are plenty of alternatives to 'swarms are busted and flying further than they should' that don't involve immediately jumping to the worst case scenario.
I never said "swarms are busted and are flying father than they should." I did show a picture where a swarm is busted and did fly father than it should, but i never stated it was consistent feature of Dust.
You quoted me when i said "a picture showing an exceptional case where a swarm acted far outside the norm." You still ignore the "exceptional" and the "outside of the norm" and jump straight to "Swarms are busted"
That angle is one that you came up with and are getting defensive about. I'm not bringing up balance issues or damage issues, flight time or lock ranges, AV vs V stats, Just showing "here is a crazy moment that should not exist"
It like if somebody posted a video that shows how tanks can spontaneously explode on certain areas of the map and you went into a overly long post concerning tank balance, tank cost effectiveness, tank manuevering and balance vs infantry. Valid discussions they may be in thier own right but irellevant to the topic at hand.
