- Mercs from District holding Corporations can only ring in agreed Contracts between them at a in-game set price for 5/10/15 mercs, so 5 mercs would be a cheap enough option to fill a team, while 10/15 to BE your team would cost a set amount of ISK that is paid from Corp to Corp. If you want to field multiple teams, you would have to pay for it.
-Solo mercs, would still be able to join IF they are not part of a land holding Corp, opening a chance for Raiding Corps to gain PC time outside of their battles and encouraging Merc/Raiding Corps. To discourage Corp hopping to bypass this, a 24hr stasis period is active when a merc joins a Corp for deploying into PC battles, adding a Merc loyalty bonus (+2% to DK earnings per rank) upto as much as 5 ranks gained by either your time/PC battles with your Corporation. resets on leaving.
Adds more depth to how Corps function and benefit players. And balances the use of experienced mercs by forcing them to be used in possibly expensive contracts. Squad of 5=5mil // 10=15mil // 15=30mil ??? could be estimates for the cost of PC Corp ringers.
Again, poaching some D1CK's replies on possible changes to how Corps function for PC

Seems pretty fair to me but I'm not that experienced in PC so I'll let the professionals debate this.

They could ring, as in the current sense of it..
but the Merc contracts would be for district holding Corp members. To limit how easy it is to use them
- Adds a bump to calling on a top Corp to saving your ass - Adds a market for non-PC Corp ringers

DK only paid to Corp members of a given battle. (as it is now)
Mercs Contracts would earn X amount for your Corp, Ringers of any kind get normal battle payouts

I ring for free as isk isn't a problem but now you want me to go npc or grab 4 other dudes just for a PC? You have good intentions but the moment I can't be a mercenary is the day I quit for good..I play for pc's not pubs..this would leave me with 2 choices leave my Corp or only do pc's when my Corp has them..but I'm the minority so who cares right..as long as it's easier for you guys

Not at all the intention.
But you have to look at it from outside the circle..
- It's usually the same ringers being sought out for battles, in some cases players like yourself, Hughes, JAKE or Arirana, just that one player can make a hell of a difference in a battle.. so I do think there should be some limitation of ringer usage.
- If Corps need just one merc to fill a team they would have to offer the space to someone outside the usual PC activity
- This could open up a market for ringer Corps not interested in district holding, while adding more content for PC players by giving them access to Contracts with other Corps, use of skilled ringers would have to be arranged not just picked up.
And, this post was just a reply I brainfarted onto someones thread.. sure there are flaws But I think we can agree that something to liven up content and balance ringer usage would not be a bad thing. How often do you ring anyway?? you speak like I am trying to kick you out of a non-existent market looking for ringers, when we both know there is not much PC activity, one of the causes being either you can use top ringers or you can't. So how about take the good intentions you see here and suggest something for the "minority" (the minorirty being billionaire PC mercs) I do not think it is unfair to balance the use of these players, so what CAN we do about it?

The trouble is, if you want to win a PC battle it is much easier to hire a load of ringers than use your own corp.
Ringers are generally much better fighters than members of your corp, unless you are in some high tier veteran corp. Their presence greatly increases your chance of winning.
Ringers don't cost much, a lot of the time they will fight for free as they enjoy a tougher fight than a pub match and will often make a lot of isk and salvage just from the end of match payout.
Ringers are easy to get hold of. If you play PC for a while you get to know who are the good ringers and how to get hold of them. There are lots available and they are generally very willing to take part.
You don't have to FC them really. Ringers know what they are doing. It doesn't take much overall strategy when your enemies are all dead.
It's nice that there is the freedom of the ringing / mercenary mechanic, but it just doesn't work from a game design perspective. It's not such a problem for high tier corps, whose members are all PC veterans who can compete with the ringers, but it is a major barrier for newer corps or players to take part in PC.
It's a shame for players that enjoy ringing, but it needs to change or go. |

One example.. a while back in a PC - My lil Pony V Agentes Al Frente
Argentes picked up a few random players, I dont even know how I got the invite as I was not in any channels My lil Pony picked up about 6 regular PC players from 0.H..
You can imagine the result, the mercs from 0.H farmed well over 100kills, while Argentes team barely killed 30.. What could have been an even Corp v Corp PC, turned into a bloodbath due to the easy access of ringers.
It is particularly the small corp battles that feel the burn of vet ringers

Small Corp.. checks out Planetary Conquest tab , searches for district holding Corporation of choice.. When selecting a certain district on top of the current option to attack, you would be given the option to "Send Contract" doing so opens a menu where you select the number of mercs and send the request. The receiving Corp gets a Corp Mail with the contract offer, Directors can accept or deny the Contract, if they accept then the Small Corps battle is added to the contracted corps Battle finder, only allowing the contracted number of that team to deploy. So if you bought 5 mercs from DMG, we could deploy our own 5 into your battle (limiting your Corps deploy to 11/16) - Imagine how much easier it would be for you to PC
- Here's where I turn everyone against me
Sending Contracts has minimum costs that are paid between Corps ISK+CP and the costs would scale based on your chosen Corps district total, so spamming the best would hurt your wallet, but not be impossible..
Alternative: Contact Finder where Corps display Contracts
Sounds like I have no choice but to back pedal on only allowing solo Ringers from non-district Corps
Anyway just got home and barely followed myself while explaining this, so I wish you the best of luck.
