Fix that as well...
Or when a scout uses a cloak everyone on there team has 0db...
If you can justify permanent scans then why does the above not happen as a counter?
This is more a silly post than an actual idea but when your getting you've been scanned every 5 seconds it gets annoying...
Ps thats in a max Cal with 2 dampeners... 16db gal logi does 15 db... Kinda makes the Cal scout useless

Because stealth is the MOST IMPORTANT element in an FPS.
We allowed to have undetectable scouts once and it flat our ruined the game, as most of CCP's short sighted nerfs and buffs do.
Scanning is the counter to players who don't show up on the tacnet.

But permanently being scanned? It's game breaking and reduces all matches to 2 lines of ppl shooting at what's in front of them
Scanners need a massive rework because the counter is far too sp,isk and slot intensive... Scanners should use the same cpu and pg as cloaks therefore only really fittable by logi's who have to actually sacrifice some of there own slots to use it

Scanning is the counter to players who don't show up on the tacnet. For the record, this time period also saw Scouts being able to tank up to 1000 HP, and shoot directly from cloak.
Those were NOT inconsequential.
I firmly believe that had cloak delay been present when it was firstt released, and armor tanking scouts been nerfed more directly, you wouldn't have needed to see all those other cloak changes.

These threads are all the evidence necessary to illustrate that we need to completely overhaul the scanning system so it isn't so binary. These sort of threads will never stop popping up as long as you're either 100% going to be scanned or not.

Completely agree that Active Scans are ridiculous and overpowered. Disagree that CalScouts are useless because of Active Scans; 15dB scans aren't particularly common (thankfully).

Ithankfully yeah but... This event has seen it be pretty common so now I can't even use a suit I've maxed.. With only 2 low slots N 2 dampeners fit my scout is slow, low stamina, low hp and doesn't have the benefit of not being scanned... My respec is to abandon the Cal scout completely and use a suit that actually allows you to act like a scout eg minmitar assault lol

* Increase Intel Assist pay by 10-15 WP * Nerf Creodron Flux Active Scanner (200m, 90 degree ---> 150m, 60 degree) * Decrease Active Scanner scan duration by 20% across the board * Disable team sharing

I don't think it's the binary nature that's the problem.
The problem in my view is the number of people that can be scanned and the number of people that can view the scan.
These are the areas scanned by the ptoto scanners:
Flux 200m x 90 degrees = 31,420 square metres Regular 100m x 60 degrees = 5,237 square metres Proximity 60m x 45 degrees = 1,414 square metres
The flux scanner is the problem - it scans an area 20x the area of the normal scanner and that can often mean the whole eneny team can see your whole team - that doesn't seem fair to me.
A scanner should help an individual or a squad asses an area to be attacked. A scanner should not make all of one team visable to all of the other team all of the time.
Remove the flux scanner and all will be fine. |

Cal scout can't even fit 3 dampeners haha my suit is ridiculously gimped compared to gal and min scouts.. With Ewar nerf (range and precision) the suits as good as dead.. Can only use it as a slightly faster assault

IMO scanners would fit much better if they were looked at as more of an objective intel tool.
Something you use just before pushing up on an objective to give you intel about whats waiting for you. Cooldown should be relative to how often players push on objectives. 3 minutes maybe? It sounds harsh but if you're serious enough about assaulting an objective that you're going to scan it first, you're going to spend at least 3 minutes there.
Range should be short too, think like the average amount of distance from neutral cover to objective, so the assaulting players can push as far as the cover near the letter, scan to get their intel and then complete the push (or not if things look bad). The time that the scan shows up should be long enough to get a head-count and a rough idea of enemy positioning. 5 seconds?
I think all that sounds fair. I know a lot of people that use scanners as a crutch/permawallhack will complain but it's like this: Scanners will be used only when they're really needed, when your squad is pushing up on an objective and you want to know what numbers you're up against. They will provide that. Their cooldown will have worn off by the time you're ready to hit the next letter.

Change it so that only the person scanning can see the Intel. He/she will have to tell the squad/team what they are seeing. Problem solved. I think it's beyond broken right now the range and the ability to scan 95% of suits is just stupid. One gal logi can prevent the entire team from being able to move. |

Scanners were meant to give snapshots of scannable enemies. But now tryhards and pubstompers love to just permantly make people glow through walls and call it skill. Plus whoever thought of the gal logi bonus of scanner visibility duration needs his head caves in. Way to make scanners complety contradict their own descriptions. Plus its ever so annoying that the gal logi having the highest pg that it has,gets a peice of equipment that cost 9 pg no matter what fluxing tier. Yeah. Scanners are sooooo balanced right now.
