Sgt KIRK, you are NOT a noob! LOL!
We players tend to refer to anyone who has gotten the hang of the game, and is great at shooting others, as a veteran,GǪ ...and anyone who doesn't spend "X" amount of time or "Y" cycles of playing the game, as a casual player.
ButGǪ I've read remarks and posts from the Devs that seem to have a VERY different, hard-fact definition of these players.
As far as the Devs tend to focus, any player who has pushed deep enough into Dust to study and understand the rules of its different match modes, understands many of the indepth restrictions of items like Bandwith on depolyables, indepth bonuses on Squad-commands, indepth HMG and small blaster-turret dfferences of dispersion-vs-target accuracy over time, etc, is clearly a seasoned or Advanced Player.
To the Devs, any player who has devoted a long haul to Dust, and had time to fully experience the evolution of the game design through the stages of Chromosome and the other Beta stages (and so is the ONLY valid lab mouse for comparing player habit today versus play habits from 3 years ago), is valued as a Veteran Player.
And a Casual Player is typically anyone who spends only enough time in Dust to get an understanding of "how to trigger an RE" or "when the fall is so far that you have to hit the X-dampener", or "how many WPs a headshot will get you",GǪ but still has no idea (and no interest in) how the Skill Tree bonuses reduce PG/CPU, or doesn't care about why people want to trade items, or has no wish to be part of any FW, LP, warbarge-subsystem, etc. He may play an hour every day, may play 8 hours every weekend, once every other time his grandkids come over---it doesn't really matter. What makes him a "Casual Player" is that, he's clearly not interested in getting any deeper into the game than unlocking a dozen or so entertaining items and having fun shooting them.
I think by the Devs perspective, I'm an Advanced Player. I've clearly invested a lot of grind, seem focused enough to bore deep into very specific areas of training, am picky and choosy about warbage componentry and AUR use. That's too much knowledge -interest to be called a Casual Player. And my opinions and performance patterns can't be measured against any Chromosome months I spent on the game, so I am NOT a Veteran.
I don't think by the Devs' perspective, you can be any two of these player-types simultaneously.
Universe of good wishes for the 49, especially CCP Eterne...
