Doesnt cs:go give you a matchmaking cooldown? Just give us three chances to join and after leaving fourth match just give us a matchmaking ban for 30 minutes.
And then give me the option to switch teams for more pay so i can kill people.
(And dont try to say real life wont let you stay in a single game for 15 minutes. Fix your issues before you commit to a match. I dont believe that excuse.)
Vote on that. Amd dont try any areguments yes or no.

YES. Four chances is still a lot of quitting though.

I am all for the stick if a carrot is present. Also its not just CS that have something like this. LoL gives you a cooldown if your a leaver and an automatic lost, same with WoW when doing Battlegrounds.
As for real life interrupting, there are things called emergencies. And also children. You can put a child to bed and they will be asleep, but they can have nightmares at any time or can stop breathing or hurt themselves or... well the list goes on. Yes, as a responsible parent I do make sure my child is alright before I game, but there are real life stuff that are out of my control.
Other out of peoples control stuff for leaving matches:
Power Outages Internet Outages Evacuations due to fire or biohazard reasons Car crashing into the house (sounds ridiculous but it does happen) Car Crashing into your parked car (happened last year to me and I had to leave PC to deal with it)

That's why he's not proposing a ban on your first leave. You'd be pretty unlucky to have something like that happen four times in a day.

tl;dr: YES*
*If this is my game, I want to encourage people to stick to matches that Really MatterGäó, but I don't want to discourage casual play, either. Carrots to keep people in casual games, sticks to keep them in important matches.
Casual carrots: ISK match reward pool split between 'stayers' (your share of the pot goes up when people leave). Maybe some other kind of reward, too, for sticking around even when you're getting tromped. Blacklight:Retribution start giving you small bonuses if you're on a losing stream. Other games utilize 'drops', maybe supply drops from the MCC to help turn the tide if there's a tromp going on. Lots of carrot options here.
Serious sticks: Ban timers for leaving FW/PC matches. 10 minutes first offense, 45 minute second offense, 3 hour 3rd offense, something like that. Maybe put these sticks on casual matches, too, but with 2 'warning' matches before any actual time ban.

Wow you guys really wanna stroke the E-peen, so if the New player decides to leave because he knows he's "Oh man i'm about to be shafted again", you'd really force that player to duke it out with the unfair systems we have now?
NPE will plummet from this idea, and in fact New Berries would be in an even smaller flow than it is now.

Fair complaint, and I think what's more important than this is to fix matchmaking, but in the interim, if we can give that new player some reason to say "man, i'm about to be shafted, but [reason] makes me want to stay in the match anyway!" then we've done the game a service.

New players shouldn't be getting shafted in the first place, but that's a whole 'nother problem. Teaching new players to leave when they get thrown in a lopsided battle is just going to encourage bad habits for when the matchmaker actually starts working.

Bad habit's are hard to kick in general and new players getting shafted anyhow is the main problem, because most of those player's were once NP's and have already grown into the habit of Dust's "Leave the battle now and save the rage and suits".
Eventually the NP will get enough MU to go up against me and various other veteran's who've stayed since either 2012-2013 and I should know this, because a I went up against a New Berry just yesterday, he stood still shooting at me, while i was strafing and shooting at him, suffice to say who won each encounter. By the end of the game, he went 1 (surprisingly he killed someone) and 23 deaths, with only 230 warpoints, so he managed to rack up assists.
Problem is about me and I will ADMIT this, my veteran instincts and my self proclaimed pro ignorance, made me believe he had given up trying to get killed and was just shooting for the luls of it. I was wrong and this SHOULDN'T have happened to him and SHOULDN'T be happening to anyone else!

All points here are solid, but what happens when you die and don't rejoin the match. A week ago I was in battle and died, I didn't leave because life was more important for a phone call. I was on the phone and over heard right before I was kicked that this was going on file for my account? So does anyone know what that in tails? Seems like after that I was punished for a few battles with garbage teams. But it may have been a fluke. But back on topic, I feel there should be something for habitual match leaving. I got a stomping last night, but I finished with 1100 wp the runner up was 650. All of about 7 players! Don't help much when 2 pro tanks and 8 infantry are redlining. I'm still going to play tonight because I still have fun at it. If I get rolled again then o well, this game doesn't effect my real life and isk is fake! Someone is going to get wrecked by my opus tank assault, and many will be healed ,feed, and reped by my shaman. I try my best to turn a battle around but sometimes it just ain't enough! Good luck mercs.

The long and the short of it is that new players shouldn't be facing the hordes of vets in the first place (unless they choose to). Keeping match leaving intact is just letting one big problem remain because it sorta helps with the symptom of a completely different problem.

My question is why are some of these slayers and squads coming out so strong for a respec? Most bad a$$ players I know and squad with are 30 plus mill skill. Maybe to just show that they can! I'm level 6 but guess what there are probably a few thousand players that are better than me. My k/d can prove it, but I play the logi game and scout if I'm getting whipped. A new system for match making is needed .

Fix the matchmaking so it doesnt match me 2 out of 3 games into a game that has one side down 6+ players, allows me to choose the maps I have to play on, and has some basic balance in terms of player skill, and then we can talk about punishment for leaving matches. |
