As a programmer, getting the game to actually show up on the screen is one of the most essential elements of any game.
There is a very basic program called "hello world" that programmers write when they are learning any new computer programmer language. It basically initiates them into the language with an empowering declaration that "Yes, I can make stuff appear on the screen!"
CCP has failed at this basic "hello world" program. Their "hello world" only works some of the time. The other part of the time, their program doesn't make it onto the screen.
So, CCP, please take programming 101 again. If you can't get the program to render onto the screen, then how can we trust the calculations behind weapon damage, movement, timing, and all of the sundry underlying components of the game that are supposed to make it interesting?
In other words, if it takes luck to get into battle, then it probably takes luck for the proper amount of weapon damage to be applied, and luck to render my avatar in the proper position on somebody else's screen, so that my act of running for cover actually propagates to the game server.
Please tighten up the nuts and bolts of your program. Why would I play such an unreliable game where skill is not reflected in game calculations?
Until then, I'm taking a break.
Bye CCP. |

You know, it is kind of like that. Except with a thousand more variables and intricacies.
In fact, it's not like that at all. Perhaps if you looked past programming 101 you would realize that.
Might I recommend programing 102 for you?

Best resolve those details before putting the software into production then.
...
(Like all of the other competent game companies that manage to get their content onto the screen more than 50% of the time.)
....
(In fact, I can't think of another company whose games don't render onto the screen.) |

They can make the game fundamentally worse at the drop of a hat...
Making it fundamentally better is seemingly impossible.
There are four main races in DUST514: The Amarr, bla, bla, and bla.

I ended up deleting dust from my ps3 systems.
I feel so clean now.
See you later, Dust community. I wish you well on finding better games. |
