Shadowed Cola wrote:smh, that describes every MMO, because that's what the video is trying to do and that's what we are. And according to this video, we're actually a healthy community, as we have socializer, achievers, explorers, everything, really. So stop bumping this thread. You didn't find anything special, you found useless information to relate to.
we don't have socializers, they died off after warlords 1.0 and PS4 launch We don't have achievers, all thrown off by the COD-style play. We don't have explorers, CCP didn't employ any lore into the game aside from FW. We have killers. only killers. All new players are discouraged because all the players are killers. CCP has to make goals related to killing because we don't have achievers, we have killers. CCP won't employ better corporation tools because all of the socializers are gone. They tired with squad finder. do you know why that failed? Because the social aspect was weak. you could only talk to other mercs. thus the socializers cound was low. CCP won't put any lore in, or secrets, etc. do you know why? because they can't pinch pennies out of it. CCP Will only focus on killing mechanics (balancing weapons, making new ones, etc). Why? because they rotted the rest of their community away.

We don't have explorers? Do you even know what that means, to find and discover? It happens all the time around here, people discovering a glitch, or a bug that causes the next FOTM. People are always looking for the next thing around here. The numbers of players can't go up or down without someone eyeing the difference from one month to the last.
Yea, killers, in an FPS. That would of made sense if we were a casual only game, but PC ***** all over your assessment.
PC is NOT filled with any achievers. They are only filled with the better killers. Glitch discovery is accidental 99% of the time. Sure, there's R&D. But this could only ever be useful and tested by killers.

So it did have explorers. I would argue that it still has those people who like to test jumping on everything and everywhere to find every spot you can get to on a map. Even those who test paths through the redline for LAV's or such to make runs through.
There is a ton of lore, but it isn't directly in the game. I guess they were hinting at lore that you have to find on the web before Destiny made it cool. Hipster DUST 514.
Achievers I don't know. Having highest SP or something is all I can think of. Being up on leaderboards in some stat. I guess FPS games are achiever and killer based like he said.
Socialisers for sure. DUST was all about the politics and socialising for me. Going to Fanfest really shows that socialising is a huge part of this game.
Killers for sure though. It is that kind of game.
1) dust did start with many explorers, and that was awesome. now? not so much. 2) If they're there, they aren't there for long. it doesn't take long to see everything in a dust map. 3) Personally, I don't count Online lore as part of the game, but I could see why people would count it. fair enough. 4)RIP saxon. was a wakeup call for me. certainly not many left. 5)not as much as other games. EVE is more into politics than this game, heck even farmville probably has more socializers than this, and you can't even interact with other players.

I helped establish the first DUST 514 / EVE online alliance in this game. It took a lot of socialising and politics, although I admit much of this was done while playing EVE and awaiting DUST to start. That said after it did start there was a lot of politics and socialising for years.
Yeah, CCP certainly gave a good effort on the social frontier, and it's obvoius they did. If they kept that effort up to refine social interactions more, we'd definitely see more players here.

Terry Webber wrote:A very interesting video, emm kay. However I also respectfully disagree with some of your opinions. I won't deny that this game primarily has killers but there are still some people who are from the other categories. The people from the DUST University corporation are great examples of socializers and there are achievers that complete daily missions or improve their K/D ratio even if nobody else cares about it. There are even explorers that try out different tactics like sticking a remote explosive to another player or getting out of an LAV in midair to get on top of a building. i have no doubt that each of these exist in some from. I'm saying that dust is the way it is because there are 10 killers for every 1 other from another group.
