As I've said in many other threads, mouse/keyboard destroys controllers without contest. The only way to balance them would be to not allow raw mouse input, and give controllers heavy aim assist, both of which would drive the PC players out anyway.
Unfortunately the game has to be on one or the other.
That said, I intend to upgrade to a PS4 next year even though I already have a desktop that could easily run the game. I support CCP's original vision of console gamers (Dust 514) and PC gamers (EVE Online) working together for mutual benefit.

It is much more interesting for CCP to go on PS4 than PC, and economic reasons are by far the most important one (for a company). "Work better on PS4"? What precisely does that mean? I mean, in my gaming experience console games typically boasted longer loading times and more gamebreaking bugs*. My PC games have boasted higher FPS as well. And what does "more interesting" mean? You are reaching, Sequal We're adults here. Just say, "I have a personal preference for PS4." You don't have to create nonsense buzzwords. *: Except for Nintendo games/systems. Your gaming experience sounds like it was tainted by recent console releases that have been half-finished rush jobs pushed into the market to meet deadlines that were too early to begin with.
I've been gaming on consoles and PC for a long time, and I remember when console games were far more stable and I only encountered bugs on PC.
The fact is that if you do the job right you get stable software regardless of platform. That being said, however, you also can't deny that many bugs arise from the wide variation of hardware that PCs represent, whereas a console is a single un-changing hardware set to program for with no issues of OS-related driver errors, draw-calls getting backed up in CPU bottlenecks, or any of the other myriad issues that most of us who grew up on PCs take for granted, but more and more people don't want to waste time on.
I'll always come back to CCP's original vision of a console game that brought the two sides of the "platform war" together, though. I think that's important, and that we shouldn't all give up on it just because it hit a major setback.
Ripley Riley wrote:So Dust should cater to the lowest common denominator? And if we separate the PC and PS4 players' matches, what then? Other multi-platform games like Warframe have separate servers for each community. You're going to write off this entire community as the "lowest common denominator"?
You're better than that. I know you are.
You also know as well as I do that launching the game on both PC and PS4 and then separating the communities goes counter to everything that New Eden represents and would destroy the game as a whole, not to mention the backlash from EVE players who won't want two separate games having influence on their single-shard universe.

This one I just built was $920 and there's some games I can't run above Medium if I want to maintain 60 fps.

Don't wanna turn this into a PC vs Console thing, but if you spent $920 on a PC and it can only do 60fps at Medium, you done effed up. Got a pcpp list I can have a gander at? EDIT: Here is a build with an i5 quad core 3.3ghz, Radeon R9 290x 4GB, SSD + HDD & 8GB RAM for $620. That should have no problems running games on High@60fps. Benchmark for that system. I'm talking about Star Citizen and MechWarrior Online. Pretty sure MechWarrior Online is just because PGI is terrible at optimization.
Everything else runs at High with no problems.
