I have been having some delays with the R2 weapon/item cycling. Sometimes it doesnt want to quick switch other times, instead of quick switching it does the cycle wheel.
It happens when im in a gun fight a lot I noticed and that gets me killed as I try to switch weapons or items.
Dear CCP,
Can you fix the R2 weapon swap that it only swaps between weapons and not items? I dont want to use the cycle wheel to get to my Nanohives or Remote Explosives.
My suggestion is that you keep the R2 just for weapons and you use the controller mapping of left and right direction buttons to cycle through the items. Or better yet, if the equipment slot is only 2/3 have it directly mapped to the LEFT, DOWN, RIGHT and if it's four UP directional buttons so that we can easily hit the button we want to bring up our item then just press R2 to switch back to our weapon.
You can just put the score list on select or something.
To recap: 1. R2 responsiveness in quick switching and limit it to weapons only 2. Controller Mapping of directional buttons to cycle or specific to the item equipment |

It would be great if r2 brought up a radial menu for the thing that exist on the directional buttons and said buttons were used for equipment swapping. I dont like that weapon selection can skew my viewpoint if i hold the direction for too long after releasing r2. Sometime to avoid this i release r2 too early and dont change weapons otr equip. |

It is funny you mention this since the left button on the directional pad is unassigned, it would be great to have the equipment assigned to that and actually switch the interact button to the R2, with the crouch going to the circle button and then the weapon swap back to the triangle.
Or, if anything at the least, allow for us to customize our controller mapping in the options menu.
it would also be nice if the radial was lower and not in the middle of my line of sight, especially during a fire fight. IMO it sucks having it in the middle of my view and having the weapon swap on the R2, where the interaction is either too slow (i.e., the games doesn't recognize the button action) or too damn sensitive (i.e., brings up the radial instead of switching the weapon).
LET US MAP OUR CONTROLLERS PLEASE!!!!!! |

This is something I'd really like, but you brought up another important issue, that is that it doesn't seem to want to quick switch.
I've died multiple times because I've run out of ammo on my primary weapon and it's immediately started reloading. I've hit R2 to cycle to my secondary, but my primary seems deadset on reloading it's magazine before switching. |

I agree with lowering the radial menu as not to cover the line of fire!

When I started playing I immediatly had impression of MAGs control scheme with one or two tweaks like both tools and weapons on R2. I believe they should put tools on L2 and make frag grenades holdable like a pistol. Also the directional buttons already used for stuff like ordering vehicles. Although control mapping would be nice. |

Hmmm.. explosives equipment like grenades and remote mines can be clumped up in R2. You can cycle them using the R2 if you have both equipped then use R1 to throw. That way you can hold a grenade without cocking it just yet.
then the left directional button can be used to cycle through the non-explosive equipment like droplink, nanohives and the like.
Another suggestion is have the vehicle deployment in the down directional button and use the right and left directional button to switch between your non-explosive equipment.
Map overview can be brought up anyway from the neocom. |
