Its all about tierlock and meta lock? Dunno. I don't remember that officer assault gk.0 surviving a BASIC remote explosive planted in common walkway.
Or getting sniped with a sica fitted with a heavy rail gun,or a assault hmg on a heavily armour stacked milita amarr frame,or my personal favorite, snuck up on with milita shotgun. Or run over by a lav. It might be officer and or proto. But it doesn't mean it can survive simultaneous heavy damage. Hell even basic locus grenades can do the trick now.
I mean if you wanna not see officer stomping in pubs then just restrict officer gear from public matches or reduce the availability.
I MEAN COME ON. I'm hearing about people with more than 1000 of x officer suit or weapon. I thought these things were supposed to be RARE. At least make the experimental weapons laboratory only spit out EXPERIMENTAL WEAPONS like its actually named. I barely get anything experimental out of it. I just get mostly officer.
Pubs is where we go to make money. (Proto but no officer) Factional is where we fight for ranks and loyalty points(officer is allowed) Planetary is districts and money apparently(how?)(I WILL call you a plebian if you don't have some officer stuff)
Honestly proto isn't even worth it. The suit I just spawned in is practilly my WHOLE PAYOUT. And for WHAT REASON?!? a few extra bits of health?
The slot teiricide makes fighting against proto much easier now. Heck a lot of adv stuff is easily comparable to proto. A little but less damage but that's, what a cheap damage mod is for. Why pay 50k for 2 points more damage? 10k adv weapons(I forget the price) and a 3k damage mod can do the same thing(sort of) for cheaper.
You can't whine about the gear. Its being solo vs an entire 2 or 3 fire teams. I mean teamwork in MILITA GEAR can beat an entire enemy team of proto if they were just solo players.
My advice is: Join a corp, squad up,and run someone over.
Ha! You can't kill me! I'm already dead!

But metalock is supposed to make my dumbass teammates not suck at the game. Since NoNeck is only able to use a STD CR there is no way he can drop 30 in a pub. Since Cavani cant use a proto gun he's not gonna be able to face **** the other team in a pub. Since Regnyum cant use a Assault MK.0 he no longer has any game awareness.
Metalock is gonna fix all that ****. No, im not being sarcastic. Completely serious right now. Metalock/teir lock is gonna fix everything. Seriously. Not at all being sarcastic.

If you are not being sarcastic then you are a fool. Every suggestion a person makes to level the playing field in Public Matches is not thought up with the mindset of ending all stomps forever; at least I hope not because that would be ridiculous.
Skilled players will stomp people regardless and nothing will ever change that. What we can do is work to give people a more reasonable chance at countering those stomps. |

Limiting gear is not gonna be enough to fix anything going on right now. Is gear an issue? Yeah, BUT general ingame skill, awareness and lvl of bitchassness far outweigh the gear/isk disparity in terms of importance ithink. Some people just aren't playing the game in a way conducive to team success. Just FYI. When i say somebody sucks im not saying they can't slay. When i say a person sucks im saying they aren't adding any value to the team at all. Whether it be slaying, logi work, point defense, AV etc people need to find something to do that helps the team. What we have now are a bunch of blueberries being blueberries. Yep, cant really explain it but you know what im talking about.
And no im not a super 1337 MLG Dust pro.

I'm just saying let's not just GIVE them anything easy?! I say let's see more squading, a longer time in academy, and the tiercide should've helped them out! I rooted for tiercide as hard as ever because I was thinking "man this gonna help the new guys"!
What happen? They still suck?! Not that they can't kill, but that they didn't take advantage of tiercide, the environment, or teamwork?! They just don't wanna squad, and don't want others to squad so they can record COD 1v1's lol!
CCP could encourage more teamwork....
Bottom line, they won't take away squads in any mode just because some noob is socially awkward.

How much better this game would be for people if they'd take the time to join a squad. Then if they'd try to coordinate equipment and roles to force multiply a bit.
I hear people say they don't like waiting to deploy between matches, but your chances of success increase exponentially by taking a little extra time. 6 crappy matches where you get stomped solo vs 3 matches where you win matches and profit more.
Even if you don't listen to comms or talk, you can follow the donut.
It's become tiring talking about it. But the Soraya's of Dust got their way. Lonewolfing in Dust is what the vast majority of players do. It's difficult to solo in Dust and the QQ is trying to dumb Dust down to make it easier. In the end it would just be less of a game and the bad players would still be bad.
Seriously, port it.

But it's really unfair to say that squading guarantees more success. It's still a complete crapshoot on the blueberries you get. With MU, being in a squad increases your chances of getting bad players on your side. The matchmaking system can't work with so few squads and so many solo players doing random stuff.
It's a mess and it makes pub matches extremely frustrating.
Seriously, port it.

So that about a militia/basic mode for solo players and then make pubs basic/adv then factional will be adv or higher... PC could be pro/off and raids could be pro or lower. |

No. Just make officer only in PC/fw then go help a newbie kill something.
I.e stop running solo if you can't handle the stomp

It's a mess and it makes pub matches extremely frustrating. When I first started, way back in beta, we were automatically thrown into a squad.
That being said, I didn't realize they had a separate color than blue, and was shooting at the green guys. They often shot back at me, so it seemed to confirm that they were the enemy, apart from the fact they did not die.
At no point in time did being in a squad help me to realize I was actually shooting at my squad, as none of them said a damn thing.
It didn't increase teamwork, nor understanding.
People make this connection between squadding and teamwork, as if they automatically go hand in hand, and they do not.
Even if a squad is communicating, there is a massive difference between 4 guys who run proto and try and do the right thing, and 4 guys who have experience playing with one another, know one another's strengths, know what the other players are likely to do often without direct communication, and have based all their strategies and tactics around that.
The whole situation is much more complex than everyone is making it out to be, and even adding meta lock will not necessarily prevent stomps.
Until player numbers get to a level that promotes better MM, this is just going to be a situation that is managed and not fixed.

I think we have different ideas as to what impacts new player retention.
You say squads, not stat modifiers from gear and SP
I say the opposite.
So I'll ask you... Why do you think a problem that's fairly unique to Dust is caused by the mechanic that isn't unique to Dust rather than the one that is?
Stat modifiers are killing new player retention.

If not for autosquading, I wouldn't have bought a headset and gotten involved in Dust.
I still play with the first dude I was ever on comms with from time to time. I understand that every situation is different, but to me autosquading was the best NPE Dust has ever had.
I also agree that it's a complex issue, but I believe the random players not participating in matches is the number one issue at the moment. ESPECIALLY with the lower player counts.
Seriously, port it.

Hmm....stats... Something I particuly don't care about. A few extra pints of health and damage can't save you from teamwork. So what if you have 200hp more than the average newb. A squad of them all shooting at you will still kill you. Stats aren't everything. Teamwork is.

There's literally no amount of talking that will convince these dudes that gear isn't the issue. It doesn't compute to them that at least 75% or more players in most matches aren't doing anything.
Apparently if there are 4-6 players at the objective in a Dom those one or two players at a time coming in across open ground would be able to take the objective if the the defenders were using militia instead of proto. And if those 4-6 players are using proto shame on them, nevermind the 12 dudes they past on their way out of the redline that are waiting on grass to grow in front of them.
Seriously, port it.
