Currently it is possible for Dust players to send items to Eve characters. Or rather to send towards them, the items are lost in the void though.
Most people don't know about this and accidents do happen.
I know your support reimburses these accidents. But it must be an unnecessary tedius task for them.
PLEASE do a simple fix:
remove "send item" and "send isk" from the dust-to-eve char context menu items!
Or fix it otherwise.

Yes please, but that's a big change.
It's not gonna happen if we just ask.
We need a simple removal of broken things from context menu. Easily doable.

Guys.
Just remove the bugging function which has not even been intended to be there.

GM Archduke wrote:Moved this to Features and Ideas Discussion. Personally I think everyone should always make sure to triple-check character names before sending items or ISK, which should prevent anything being sent from a DUST 514 character to an EVE Online character. But that's just my opinion.
But most people still don't realise there is no problem in sending stuff to Eve chars. About a third of people would send to my trade channel char and some of them are really surprised of the fact.
The only way to learn this thing is to hear it from some other player who warns about it.
Also, most people select the person from the chat they are in with so typing is not an issue.

GM Archduke wrote:EVE Online characters cannot have the same name as DUST 514 characters. They can be similar, but not the same. As long as the trading partners make it crystal clear who to trade with, there is no issue here. Just for a second, forget the fact that the items were sent to an EVE character, and just focus on this - the items were sent to the wrong character. That's a communication problem between the trading partners, that should easily be avoided by clarifying the character-names. You know for a fact, that we're happy to assists in these cases, but honestly, it's really up to the player who is doing the trade to make sure stuff doesn't get sent to the wrong person. Just my opinion.
Disagree.

The point is: As long as the people are physically able to try to, people WILL do it.

GM Archduke wrote:Maybe you should discuss DUST 514 item trading with your DUST 514 character then...? Don't get me wrong, I understand the issue, and that it could be fixed by removing the possibility to send stuff to EVE characters. But still, what's happening is that they are sending stuff to the wrong character.
I might use my dust character on trade channels IF the internal error bug for too many chats would be fixed. As veteran people who have been on the forums know, having more than 6-8 chats makes Dust client unstable. (BTW that is terrible for new players, they have no way of knowing it, they just find that their dust crashes every 30 minutes or so. Room for improvement, public service announcement if no fix is possible).
So why I use Eve Char for trading and diplomacy, and why I recommend eve char for EVERYBODY for those purposes: - My trade char is on six main trade chat channels. Far more than dust client can handle, assuming them on top of critical social chats
- You see the live chats simultaneously on multiple channels
- because you lose all your written text when load screen etc interrups, and that is not going to get fixed
Quote:[REQUEST] Chat available also during loading Update: This is possible but requires a lot of work. We will have to balance current workload and then determin when this can be don
- Proper email management: deleting is not tedious task, you can archive mails, easy to read, can write multiple mails and save drafts, copy paste works, easy to add multiple recipients.... etc etc...)
- You can copy paste sales messages for multiple trade channels
- You can use contact colors to mark trusted traders blue and scammers red
- Chat logs are recorded(!)
etc etc etc I can list more if needed

Because how people actually get that crucial piece of information that there are characters around to whom sending items cause them to disappear?
CCP has NEVER made any public service announcement. Only thru forums or other players can you get that warning.
(claiming that "everybody should realise that there is a PC game called Eve Online and those players are actually among PS3 players as characters with funny pics, but naturally you should know not to send stuff there" is stupid argument)

GM Archduke wrote:I'm not trying to argue here, KEROSIINI-TERO and Sequal's Back. I'm not saying the current system is perfect, or that it wouldn't be better if items couldn't be sent to EVE players. All I'm saying is that if people trade, they should make 100% sure they send stuff to the character that the stuff is supposed to go to. I'm not saying we won't do anything about this either /not saying we will either/. I simply do not have power over the development of Player Trading.
On the other hand, what I can do is to fix every such trade, which I have, every single time so far. Because we understand that people can make mistakes and that the current system is not perfect.
not arguing (as if fighting) here either. Just pointing out things and countering counters.

get more ruthless and without pity, than that. You don't need to have this explained to us,GǪ we can FEEL the pain of the game right on our first day. We don't NEED to have Eve-Online explained to us by the gameGǪ
We don't NEED to have the ruthlessness and deception nature of this game turned down (believe me, it's already turned down it's brutal treatment of players quite a bit since its release).

Dude. This is not about game design. This is about plain and simple User Interface (UI).
It would be extremely ruthless if your fire button would randomly alternate from R1 to L1 and vice versa, would it not? Yet it would make no sense at all, would bring nothing into the game and would be just another hindrance in players way to play the game. Difficulties in UI =/= difficulties in game play.
