There is money to be made with the purchase of keys from people trying to get their desired 'Quafe'. CCP needs to come up with something to make money specifically to replace 'Quafe' Weapons and soon because some of us have already got all our desired BPOs.
Also, I believe weapon BPO trading priority is going towards the weapons you actually purchase and not the ones from strongboxes; I'm talking about the 'Dren' and 'Covenant' BPOs.
This just doesn't make sense.
People would buy more keys to get things so they can sell them for ISK. Most people who buy AUR will continue to buy AUR. Allowing the players who buy AUR to basically spend AUR for people who play the game for free is a net increase in revenue for CCP.
Same argument when talking about FW. People now buy lots of FW boosters so they can earn and sell more APEX suits. This would increase even more if they allowed trading of specialty FW items (uplinks, reptools, needles, etc).
CCP is sitting on a goldmine with Dust. It's a shame they'll likely never scratch the surface.
'Quafe' Weapons BPOs have been building up in peoples inventory for quite some time now. If 'Quafe' Weapons were to become tradable the market would be flooded with them. Eventually people will buy the 'Quafe' Weapons they want and the market demand for those weapons will drop. Remember that we are talking about BPOs so once a person buys one they are not going to be interested in buying another of the same weapon; unlike Officer Gear which due to those items being consumable are always in demand.
What I think CCP should do is introduce Weapon Skins that can only be obtained through strongbox. Imagine being able to make your favorite Proto Weapon a 'Quafe' variant. Weapon Skins can serve as a money-making replacement for 'Quafe' Weapon BPOs.
Same thing was said about APEX, but I sell 2 or 3 a week.
There are lots of people who don't open boxes, but they have ISK. There are people who don't use the keys they get from missions for whatever stupid reason.
I understand where you are coming from. It's obviously the viewpoint that CCP has, but it's shortsighted. Some people aren't going to spend money on Dust. Idiots like me, spend too much. If those people that don't spend money have access to the things you have to spend money on via trading, somebody else will use their $ to give it to them (for ISK of course).
The skin for weapons idea is the better idea as it expands the vanity options people have been craving. You'd end up with a quafe skin and a worthless weapon BPO just like suit skins after they've been "split".
