Is it pretty safe to say that the number 1 task the community would like the CPM2 to voice to CCP is:
-To ask CCP transparency and communication, a rather constant communication, in their plans for the future of their next FPS game? To break the silence?
- To find out the odds of porting to PC or PS4 if it ever does port?
I kindly urge CPM2 to systematically press CCP for answers. By systematically, I mean: Every CPM picks a different day of the week in which they send out a mail to Rattati/CCP, asking him the status of the port. That means that 1 e-mail per day per CPM, once per week should cover all 7 days of the week.

I believe CCP got burned so bad because of the Rouge Wedding that they internally woved that they will never speak aloud any plans not 100% sure.
For their business (max profit of current Dust) I believe that is the best course of action. Especially considering the critical community.

I also have thought the same thing as you. They got smart and decided that silence was a better option than really bad PR. However, that was 2 years ago. Timing makes all the difference. The community is ready to hear news. But maybe we're asking for bad news...in which case, it makes sense they stay silent. The money would dry up pretty fast.

CCP could talk what new features and content they're working on but also let the community know that those things might not make it into the game.

For their business (max profit of current Dust) I believe that is the best course of action. Especially considering the critical community.
It's not just a matter of the Rogue wedding but also events such as Incarna and everything that led up to the summer of rage, and the events that angered so many customers.
It ultimately boiled down to CCP being too busy about chasing the next "Jesus Features" that would be new and shiny and draw everyone in. They put a lot of effort into communicating their wild (awesome) ideas and drew many people into the game based on those ideas. (WiS, Jet fighters, etc) The problem was that in chasing these new features that they often did not fully implement or bug out their previous big ticket items (such as Incursions).
This came to a head in EVE with Incarna where the WiS came to end up with 1 / 4 of the Captain Quarters (the minmatar ironically enough) with the fully implemented New Eden Open (the Aurum shop) and the infamous $60 monocle. Not to mention the CQ literally meleted several computers into sludge.
Since that incident, and the Rogue Wedding one, CCP has had to do a lot of internal reorganization. That involved things such as the failure of their World of Darkness Project, the layoff of several employees and a general swapping of positions. Out of that we've seen a new face of CCP that is dedicated to working on tightening current features with tiericide, balance passes, and bug fixes that went on in both games for at least 6 months.
Now CCP is taking on a much more agile approach to trying to get things going forward that include a mixture of gradual changes (tiericide in EVE and various hotfixes in DUST that slowly change the entire balance in small increments), infrastructure improvements (SKINs, Brain in a Box, CREST, Powercores, etc) and larger changes that are part of a bigger picture. (New PoS, Fozzie SoV, revamp of PC, and the Warbarge)
The last category, if this new CCP is to believed is all building up to far more massive features. For EVE this is leading up to the eventual colonization of new systems by player efforts. For DUST the end goal is some sort of Flotilla System that will allow corporations to better exert meaningful control in New Eden, and a more meaningful and active PC scene.
All of this comes at the cost of CCP being unwilling to share any details unless they are 1) Asking for Player feedback, or 2) Ready to release in the coming week.
As a great example of this CCP idealogy in action take a look at the Hotfix. They asked for player feedback to the proposed changes, looked over them, then their next announcement was that it was coming out that SAME DAY. (As the release announcement, not the request for feedback)

So true.
I have an interesting thing to mention that relates BOTH to the Rouge Wedding crisis with playerbase losing hope on Dust's future, and your proverb about the silence:
About the same time as Fanfest 2014 happened, the biweekly bug reports disappeared:
This is the last post, on April 10th 2014: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=2041907#post2041907
I personally felt like the bug fixing was abandoned among all other improvements. It took Rattati three months (from August to October 2014) and two hotfixes to give part of my hope back.
PC: that method of bugfix/game improvement discussion was great. Even though some ideas were dismissed within dev team's internal weekly meetings, if felt that they weren't ignored. Loved that transparency.

This.
They have been transparent and that's how they get it up the tooter. They don't have anything solid and so wax poetic about what they WANT to do. It then makes them look like they can't develop anything effectively.
Right now they have to make sure Valkyrie doesn't go the way of DUST. They can't afford a third fail outside of EVE.

This, pretty much.
Instead of over promising and under delivering, they have adopted a policy of talking about things when they are ready and have good reasons for doing whatever they do.
And while this can be frustrating for everyone, we should all be thankful that they understand the problems they faced in the past, and are doing their best to avoid them in the future.

what you really have to think about is why does CCP have to share anything about thier future plans as a company to anyone who isnt a shareholder.
Real talk, sure we put in cash, and we do get some transparacy in terms hotfixes, and put forth feedback and proposals.
Without being invested in the company stock, we are still random faceless strangers that CCP is not obligated to share anything with.
Its like being a regular customer at a restaurant. Your feedback may be taken into consideration, and as a regular the chef may give you a heads up regarding specials or menu changes. What the owner of the restaurunt will never broadcast to a customer is what he wants to do with his buisness in the next year, 2 years or ten years. It is none of your business.

Just want to highlight this.
After discussion with a lot of the Dev's and higher ups in CCP at the last Fanfest there are good deal of them that consider how the Legion announcement was handled to be an even bigger PR screw up than Incarna was. It was because of that happening that we now have the situation where CCP won't say anything till they know it's a done deal and can be delivered in a reasonable time frame.

The transparency issue is something that is necessary, unfortunately. The CPM is trying to alleviate some of that where we can but rather than pester you guys all the time with, "We did things but can't talk about them" the only real option is update you whenever we can.
For now, just be patient. I know that is a lot to ask considering everything that has happened for the past year and a half but, be patient.

So either you know the game is dead on the PS3 and feel somehow obligated as a volunteer to keep Dust going as long as possible OR you feel that CCP should continue to watch player numbers dip while they are secretly working on a port?
And let's be perfectly clear. If a company is capable of the FF 2014 debacle how could anyone feel a decision to stay silent is the right one?
The Rouge Wedding was such an unbelievably stupid business decision that it still blows my mind. I can't believe there was more than one person in the room when that decision was made because I don't believe its statistically possible for that much stupid to be in one place at a time.

And while this can be frustrating for everyone, we should all be thankful that they understand the problems they faced in the past, and are doing their best to avoid them in the future. I have a lot of problems with this kind of reasoning. I don't mean to equate the two situations but it really does remind of the a line in Animal Farm: "Surely, none of you wishes to see Jones back?"
It is basically the same thing. "Why isn't CCP telling us about the future of the game?", "Is Legion still a thing?", "What happens in a year or two when Sony stops supporting the PS3?", "Isn't no advancement or changes to the game for years just as deadly?", "Is CCP looking into moving DUST 514 onto a different system in order to follow through with the 'promise of what DUST 514 was meant to be'?"
"Well, we don't like to talk about things until we are good and ready. Surely, you don't want another Rouge Wedding, right?"
It also kind of puts the entire fustercluck that was the 'DUST 514' keynote and progression onto CCP's playerbase and customers. "Well, YOU said you wanted information but then YOU get upset?" The hub-bub was not about 'information' but rather lack thereof. I paid the 20 bucks for the HD stream. I wish I would have recorded the chat. Everyone exploded in happiness; "Hey, maybe DUST can finally be what it was supposed to be!" "Wow, this looks great LOOK AT THAT ORBITAL!" And 23 minutes later, he was off stage.
"Wait, is that it?" "What about my ISK and items?!" "What about my name?" "F*** those; I have 20 million SP because I buy monthly boosters. What about my SP, my MONEY?!"
This, of all things, infuriates me the most about this "we have learned to not talk"; it even angers me more than "do I have interest in a game that is dying and has no life support?" and "If CCP knows there is no future, it is wrong that they continue to sell skins for a high price." Rather than CCP screwing up so heavily that if it had been EVE people would be shooting at a memorial, it was those pesky children with their 'consoles' getting upset that the game might actually be playable or the narrative gets twisted to the pointless "Console vs PC" crap.
I remember sending a message to a CPM member that was along the lines of "is there anything you wish you could say but cannot? Obviously, don't go NDA breaking." Their reply was essentially "I wish I could tell you what I know and I am frankly disgusted CCP hasn't." Now, that was just one person.
However.
If CCP has sold you on "we aren't going to tell you anything so the community doesn't get upset", you are kind of the Uncle Tom of New Eden. The company screwed the pooch real, real bad. It isn't our fault we got angry after such a blunder. And it isn't out fault that many of us are still angry with how it was been handled.
Edit: didn't see this

That's exactly the approach I've taken. No hard earned money to a dead end game FILLED with bugs, glitches, teleporting, hit-detection (lack there of). The problem is the technology, right?
This is why we need CPM2 to step up their game and demand. However, I get a feeling that they don't really voice the community's opinion, rather, they feel special to be part of a select group of folks in which CCP tells them how they should behave, what they are allowed to ask, what they are allowed to talk about. Silly business.
I hope I'm wrong, but with all these half ass answers from CPM2 regarding this issue, taking the side of CCP, is troubling.

For their business (max profit of current Dust) I believe that is the best course of action. Especially considering the critical community. I have a lot of problems with this kind of reasoning. I don't mean to equate the two situations but it really does remind of the a line in Animal Farm: " Surely, none of you wishes to see Jones back?" It is basically the same thing. "Why isn't CCP telling us about the future of the game?", "Is Legion still a thing?", "What happens in a year or two when Sony stops supporting the PS3?", "Isn't no advancement or changes to the game for years just as deadly?", "Is CCP looking into moving DUST 514 onto a different system in order to follow through with the 'promise of what DUST 514 was meant to be'?" "Well, we don't like to talk about things until we are good and ready. Surely, you don't want another Rouge Wedding, right?" It also kind of puts the entire fustercluck that was the 'DUST 514' keynote and progression onto CCP's playerbase and customers. What about my SP, my MONEY?!" This, of all things, infuriates me the most about this "we have learned to not talk"; it even angers me more than "do I have interest in a game that is dying and has no life support?" and "If CCP knows there is no future, it is wrong that they continue to sell skins for a high price." Rather than CCP screwing up so heavily that if it had been EVE people would be shooting at a memorial, it was those pesky children with their 'consoles' getting upset that the game might actually be playable or the narrative gets twisted to the pointless "Console vs PC" crap. Edit: didn't see this Aeon Amadi wrote:Echoing the words of the CPM before me, I understand and agree with CCP's route of silence. Considering my rage prior, I feel that should mean something.
I understand what you are trying to do there. You are basically saying, or not not saying, that there is something that could be coming up and you have less reason now than before to be angry. That or you have really sold into the CCP lapdog thing. Considering Dennie has said the same thing before and with how vocally angry you have been with everything in the past, I am going to go with the former. But this is still a kick in the nuts. The only way we can get ANY kind of information about the game is to metaphorically put a thermometer in Aeon's ass to get a "Rage Level"?

There were like 7 people that were saying, "yayyyy PC Master Race" and I think those people were tarred and feathered. The Eve players were excited to hear Dust 514 was coming to PC... they cheered and everything. It's in the keynote video even.
Sorry I wasn't specific, I was talking about actual players of Dust.

I only speak for myself but this silence is going to keep me from buying anymore AUR until we hear something. The few we've heard from appear to support the silence, which isn't necessarily troubling, but confusing. I'd understand if they didn't comment on it because of NDA, but to support ridiculously stupid logic is confusing.
