It's part of DUSTs comprehensive player retention strategy. Didn't you get the memo? Show us on the doll where the big mean squad touched you. They touched me right there Mr. Attorney General *SOBS* It's not fair! I'm totally in the same league as them, they're not better than me at all! Its the suits I tell you, THE SUITS. I can't compete with suits that have the same number of slots, bonuses when leveled, coupled with my core skills that apply no matter what suit I run! They're ruining the game! Lets just remove those suits from normal matches! They're obviously the sole factor in why these guys are getting stomped! I know you are speaking sarcastically but you are right. Yesterday I did a test where I created a secondary account and a new toon. Basically its not so much the proto suits but the skill point investmen as well as the higher cpu and pg. New players can't compete because they dont have level 5 in x skill or dont know how to skill or skilled into the wrong thing. There is no guiding hand for them or a safe place for them to train. Instant battle academy doesn't work. OK, all of this is true, but it's been said before. How do we get CCP to do something about it, or are they so completely enthralled by CPM as to think everything is fine?
Or do they simply not care? Either way, I want something done about it and nothing is happening. If CCP wanted to do something about it they would have by now. Which means either we just have to get used to it or leave.

I had one game where the top scores on one team were:
46/0 16/0 29/4
and the bottom 3 scores on the losing team were: 3/7 0/12 0/12
Now regardless of what ever factors caused this, there should be no way these players should be even remotely fighting each other, or even fighting people that could fight the other group. There is such a large skill / gear / whatever gap here that it's terrible players like this are in the same match.
Ideally in a "balanced" match players should never be going more than 10 KDR as anything beyond that indicates an -extreme- mismatch in skill levels. To be honest, it's not really skill or such, it's the ganking. I went 44/9 yesterday in a minmando because I was squadded up with my mates, and we traveled in a pack. If squadding and traveling in groups was encouraged, many players would feel less "stomped" Some players simply can't squad for one reason or another. It should not be necessary to squad to get a game. Where's the solo mode? |

No more PubStars and random berryes in the battles anymore..
Metalock won't do it. It needs to be skill lock. Elites can and do run militia fits in pubs and still stomp. |

Why? There are so few new players even trying the game so what's the point? You'd quite literally be wasting development resources and pathetic checks that do not actually help "new" players because we don't have any "new" players at all. Without a true new player audience, which the game will never have on the PS3 again, it's just a waste. The issues seen in pub matches plague every single FPS game. If you give a blueberry a proto suit they'll **** the bed all the same. People are just bad. There, I've said it. People are bad at first person shooters. What???!! No new players?? What am I, a mushroom? I'm one of the supposedly nonexistent new players, and I can absolutely vouch that many times it's crossed my mind that I'm wasting my time trying to get anywhere with this game. I'm sure there are plenty like me that decide to leave rather than stick it out like me, to see if it eventually gets any better. Yes, I'm sick of being stomped and I'm always making choices about whether to stay in a match or leave when I get stomped, including playing FW where I EXPECT to be stomped. But for the moment, I can actually see a way forward to a time when maybe I won't. I'm pretty tenacious. The problem is, most noobs would have given up long ago, and it's the noobs that try Dust and leave because it's too ridiculously hard that is the real issue. |

Are there people dumb enough to think that 75% of the players in matches are new? Yes, I agree that the droves of players just sitting on hills (snipers, presumably) and loafing around in the background behind the redline, just waiting out the match, are a problem. I used to snipe, but it was boring. Now I change into a sniper fit pretty much just to countersnipe, or if my team is redlined, and I can see no other way to be useful. It's always amazing to me, though to see how many are just loafing around. |

The solo mode is right out the door. If you actually want to play this game by yourself I would like to ask why? Matchmaking in every game is horrible. You can never know, without inventing a time machine how a player will do in a specific match. The skill gap, which cannot be balanced in a 16v16 team environment without making que times absurdly long, is far too wide and it has nothing to do with suits. Skills, sure but not individual suits but even then actual skill will always win. In a no squad, 16v16 match, you will still have the issues that we have now. There will still be better players then you ready to kick your **** in the dirt until you come back to the forums crying "Hurrr durr nerf da photon suits" because THEY'RE BETTER THAN YOU. I know, it's hard to imagine that someone is better than you and didn't win a gunfight because of their proto crutch. The only difference from DUST to other FPS games is that bad players have the excuse "But they're running proto" which in the end is nothing but an excuse. Just like your "Some players simply can't squad for one reason or another." Ridiculous.
I'm not saying that there aren't players better than me or that I shouldn't have to deal with them. I'm saying that it's the death of the game that new players have to deal with them, and choose not to. |

If you are, as you say a new player then you are a very small minority in the game. If you're constantly making it out of the redline and to objectives regardless of how much you get done when you get there then you're doing better than the majority of the playerbase. If I'm constantly making it out of the redline and to objectives? Where did I say that? No, I'm not. I'm a noob, and usually when my team is redlined, I find myself having to change to a cloaky scout or a sniper to do anything at all to benefit my team. Other than the fact that I'm resourceful enough to think laterally, I'd say I'm pretty typical of most noobs. And I'm sure most of them wouldn't stick it out for the long run. |
