Why are people complaining about gal assault using the rail rifle?
Perfectly lore accurate.
The caldari also get bonuses to blasters. And which ships would they be? They might have bonuses to hybrid weapons, which are shared by both Caldari and Gallente, but I've never seen blaster specific bonuses on a Caldari ship. I'll have to take your word for the Gallente ships. Can you name one so I can look it up? |

People should be able to train anything they want, but that doesn't automaticly mean every weapon would be the same on every suit. |

The caldari also get bonuses to blasters. Caldari and Gallente both ships have bonus for HYBRID WEPONS and railgun/blaster both fall under that category Yes, they do, but the specialisation skills are specific to either railgun or blaster. You have to train them separately, and the wrong type on a ship is a disaster. Blasters are extremely short range, where railguns are long range. Blasters, to work at all, need to be on a Gallente ship with massive tank, so they can get in extremely close. Railguns are hopeless at such ranges, likewise blasters don't have the range for the sort of kiting that Caldari have to do due to a shield tank.
Yes, we can and do train both railguns and blasters, but using the wrong one will result in sudden death. The OP made it sound like it's totally normal to put blasters on a Caldari ship or railguns on a Gallente ship but it just isn't. Both are hybrid, that's where the OP's confusion lies. |

The OP made it sound like it's totally normal to put blasters on a Caldari ship or railguns on a Gallente ship but it just isn't. Both are hybrid, that's where the OP's confusion lies. I'm actually not confused in the slightest. Almost every single gallente ship in eve has bonuses to hybrid weapons. There are more gallente ships that have bonuses to hybrid weapons than caldari ships, there for, there are more gallente ships that have bonuses to rail guns than caldari ship. It's very easy to understand. And THAT'S where the confusion lies. While you're technically correct, it's not relevant. Just because a railgun is a hybrid weapon doesn't mean that hybrid bonuses on a ship automaticly mean railguns are good on that ship. Horses for courses. Railguns are actually quite weak compared with blasters, but have extremely long range, where blasters are short range. You can't put railguns on a ship that's tanked for close encounters and hope to do anything at all with them to your opponent. Railguns are basicly for distance battles, kiting. If you want to use hybrid weapons on a ship that's going in for quick fast close kills, you need speed (microwarp drives), a solid armour-based tank and really devastating close range weapons (blasters). |
