Depending on the population's behavior on the battlefield (something that it is always entertaining to watch console players doing, but frustratingly impossible to predict console players following)... HAV encounters may become glorious to behold.
Previous to this year's speedy-tank experiment in the game, HAV combat in Dust used to often include one or two HAVs travelling with infantry in something you could call MUTUAL close escort. Our HAV would push a path right up to the Null panel for us infantry, while enemy couldn't get near enough to dent the HAV's skin because blue infantry were surrounding the vehicle like moths---it was a technique that was glorious.
The speedy-tank disease made HAV players happy to leave fellow infantry in the dust (becasue they seldom liked blue players climbing all over their vehicle and shooting at the red MCC with the small turrets),.. and HAV players started enjoying their own wars on the maps with nearly complete disregard of us foot-players---"screw those pedestrians; I'll get 100 wp for escorting those wooden-shoe mercs for 20 minutes---I can get 250 wp in 2 minutes of hunting down a single Magruder!"
The "hardeners" re-configuration only helped HAV players become more independent and persistent... come and go as they please, even without any blue infantry escort at all.
Now... as the HAV player turns the next corner (with no blue infantry supporting her), THE RED PLAYERS WILL THROW DOWN THEIR SWARM LAUNCHERS, RUN RIGHT UP, AND do POINT-BLANK ASSAULT-N-BATTERY for warpoints,  hitting the hull with nova knives, mass-driver handgrips, getting behind the vehicle and kicking it with dropsuit boots, stabbing it in the behind with broken Quafe bottles-
----AND THE TV SCREEN WILL LIGHT UP WITH 'Madrugar Damage +75", "Small Turret Paint Loss +75' 'Taillight Crack +75"!!! The poor driver will only see her first her shield ehp boop-disappear, then the armour-hp drops so fast she can't pedal fast enough to get herself outta there..
....there'll still be red mercs clinging to the top small turret, and being dragged behind the HAV as she tries to bore through and shake them off. O - M - G!!
It might be worse than those windshield washer vagrants that used to attack your car at every stop light. "
