HTFU!
jk.
If you are just starting out... Take out a second mortgage until you can build fits w/ pro modules.
There's a fit... I made specifically for AV... But it's secret (and several people found out) It is a special fit... It's VERY weak unless a "special" condition applies, then it's very powerful.
Have you been flying for awhile? If you are just starting out NOOOOO don't go straight to ADS. (For any new ADS pilots reading this topic)
Now, if you have been flying for awhile. That second mortgage is going to be a thing for a couple days...
See, the only way it'll get easier to kill is with high level Python... The RoF bonus (albeit small) increases the amount of damage you can dish out in that window. If you are doing pubs, don't bother use XT, stick w/ AT and level up the ADS skill to 4/5. This is for isk efficiency. If you do pro, the 44 damage increase is pretty nice to have. (10%)
As for fits... Knowing you have experience w/ the ADS, pretty sure you use general fits (python 2555) which isn't bad, but isn't good either.
Fits aren't something I give out. Fits are made by the individual for their style of piloting (who'd use a 300 rep incubus other than me? For example) These things, while so generic still has the diversity behind the ADS pilot (i never see this diversity with tank pilots sadly. They all seem to be the same). I can give you a fit i believe is perfect, and for you it will be the worst fit possible.
What I'm saying, is the fit is simply the essence of your capabilities. With a gunner i do python 2555, but with 2 boosters, and a front rail.
I see people who 3k their python and I'm super confused why people would do it... I did try it and hated it! But my friend T0M Wayne used to do that and he was really effective in it.
Don't blame yourself. Blame time. You'll find your style, you'll invest some serious skill points. You'll find some crazy control of your ADS.
(i tried to tailor this post for new ADS pilots too, incase they're lurking
Forever ADS. Best role.

(i tried to tailor this post for new ADS pilots too, incase they're lurking I put 20m sp into them have it completely proto'd out..my issue is when any AV hits me it's like a fish flopping to find water but in this case the ads is flopping to find air..thank you sir
Ahhhhh, in that case... I'm no help.
There's a spot where AV hits and it doesn't flip the ship... I'm sure you've realized it too.
Well in that case... Someone scans and preemptive strike. No fit can save a flipping ship :(
