Does anyone know the difference between the regular proto suits and the proto suits that are listed under the progression menu? I havent seen anyone with them yet and it seems odd to have to spend almost a million sp again, just to get the same suit with a "clan" name. |

You probably missing some of the skill requirements for claiming that suit. Just check what skills you don't have to use all weapons / gear on it. You dont have to spent any additional skillpoints to get these suits.
But actually they aren't that good...

Hello, Ian.
There is NO performance difference between the suits the Progression Menu shows you, and the proto suits you've noticed in the Marketplace that the Progression Menu strangely does NOT seem to want to show to you. Some back-history may be needed in this explanation:
Dust 514 used to be a brutal, "you don't need menu-guidance---only wusses need tutorials to know how to die well---pick up your weapon and step into the spinning fan blades" game. You had no cues or many helper-gear to teach you anything. You had to build your own war based on you own built-knowledge.
That was the old "Dust".
The new "loadout" dropsuits and "special pre-fitted" vehicles in the game represent a growing "New" Dust attitude. The devs want to help you a little more than before, want to give you suits that suggest an effective fitting arrangement for your gear (in case you're still struggling to do the right math and come up with effective module fittings on your own.... which of course, you are--no shame to say it).
The Progession Menu is part of that new "okay, let's try to help you" attitude. It will NOT show you access to ordinary proto dropsuits, or to anything that leaves you having to build stuff on your own. It will only show you prototype "loadout"suits you now have Skilled access to (suits that, yuck, often don't put the best choice of fittings/modules mated onto them).
If you want to get some pointers and help about what sort of prototype fittings you ought to try on for size, that's what the Progression Menu will show you. That's ALL the Pr0gression Menu will show you (which means it's biased towards players who want their choices funneled and pre-made for them. The Progression Menu is NOT helpful for players who want to see the whole range of blank-slate proto suits and explore their own options and choices.
Universe of good wishes for the 49, especially CCP Eterne...
