I get that we'll probably never know the whole truth but, from my very limited outside assessment, here's how it seemed to go:
Ccp decides to expand its game offering in the hopes of expanding playerbase/ and dollar influx ( solid business approach).
They look at the console market and the FPS genre. This before PS4/XB1. Sony agrees to partner with them but will only agree to allow for a free to play on PS3 package - Sony knew they had Planetside to keep alive and growing and they wanted the PS4 for that title.
CCP got stuck with PS3 and they took the deal because it was the best they had at the time.
The game, Dust, couldn't live up to the hype on this platform (PS3). Now they want to port...but we have no idea what kind of contractual obligation CCP is really I with Sony. Maybe they agreed to keep dust exclusively on PS3 for 5 years or some crazy crap. We don't know.
Maybe they really would port to PC or a next gen console but they're making so much from Aurum sales on PS3 they'd be shooting themselves in the foot to move now. We don't know.
Maybe they're programming away on a PC Legion title and don't want to reveal until they're certain they can publish and release in the time period they have in mind. We don't know.
And maybe CCP knows all the answers and has no intention of telling us because in the CCP corporate mindset customers/players really don't matter. They believe we will pay to p,as whatever they offer whenever and wherever they offer it regardless of the level of customer service and lack of feedback they choose to share. We. Don't. Know.
But Hilmar knows. |

I respectfully disagree.
I believe the hardware (PS3) is the problem
The crazy thing is: CCP knows the real answer. They know the truth regarding whether Dust has a future on this platform or not
They know the truth regarding whether the biggest issue with Dust is game programming or hardware capability (PS3).
But, again, the real issue here is not what the problem is...the real issue is why the people who know the answers won't speak with those who need to know (us). |

That's why I was playing an online fps that does most of what dust does almost 18 years ago on worse hardware than the ps3. Whatever, TG... What Ever.
Say, you're right...maybe the PS3 is no problem at all. Maybe the whole issue with Dust is bad game programming and them not emulating some game you played 18 years ago. Maybe.
Who cares. If CCP won't communicate with its playerbase and we are left here with what we currently have... Then blame whoever the F you like.
CCP knows the Truth
And they're the only ones not involved in this conversation
And THAT is the point. |
