Tried to tell them 2 1/2 some odd years ago you can't build a house on a broken foundation but no, half-assed bandaid after half-assed bandaid cough every one told them over two years ago they should have never built it on the ps3 The ps3 ain't the broken foundation. If CCP would have taken it seriously instead of half-assing it the entire time, we'd have a great game.... on the ps3 because the hardware ain't the problem.

The crazy thing is: CCP knows the real answer. They know the truth regarding whether Dust has a future on this platform or not
They know the truth regarding whether the biggest issue with Dust is game programming or hardware capability (PS3).
But, again, the real issue here is not what the problem is...the real issue is why the people who know the answers won't speak with those who need to know (us). Yes, the hardware is the problem. That's why I was playing an online fps that does most of what dust does almost 18 years ago on worse hardware than the ps3.

I'm willing to bet that Dust's coding is 5x more complex than what you are talking about. I'll admit, they got a bit more going on here with the customization and the "link" to EVE but at most it's just 2x more complicated. Other than that, dust ain't doing anything special.
Murder Medic wrote:At first I thought you were talking about Battlefield 2142, but then you said 18 years so I'm not really sure what you're talking about lol. C.S? Tribes, had 3 vehicles (an ads type scout, and 2 transports that passengers could shoot from), supply depots, 3 customizable classes, turrets, smaller deployable turrets, uplinks, deployable ammo, rep tools, scanners (not hand held though), multiple game modes it also had generators and solar panels to power bases the bases supply depots, turrets, vehicle stations, radars, and force fields. Then you throw in the modded stuff, and you had deployable force fields, platforms, full sized turrets and other stuff I can't remember right now. All that could be completely destroyed with exception to the built in base stuff which could be repaired after it was taken out. Edit: Oh, it also had similar sized maps, supported up to 128 players but to be fair, I never seen matches that big; mostly 8v8 & 16vs16, occasional 32vs32 on the really big maps.

Say, you're right...maybe the PS3 is no problem at all. Maybe the whole issue with Dust is bad game programming and them not emulating some game you played 18 years ago. Maybe. Who cares. If CCP won't communicate with its playerbase and we are left here with what we currently have... Then blame whoever the F you like. CCP knows the Truth And they're the only ones not involved in this conversation And THAT is the point. CCP doesn't have to talk to us and I'm not asking them to. I don't want them to emulate Tribes, this game has the potential to be far greater than that. I'm just using Tribes as an example of why the hardware isn't to blame.
