So, I'm playing around with my Playstation Move I just purchased for dust and made some observations:
Controllers beat the move with fully auto weapons and tactical rifles
The move wins hands down with shotguns and plasmacannons.
It's stupidly good with placos :D
My current settings:
Crosshair sensitivity 20 Deadzone width 70 Deadzone height 60 Turn Speed 100
My hypothesis is that the first shot is usually the most accurate with the move, meaning alpha weapons serve it best. Controllers have aim assist, so continuous fire and dps weapons serve them best.
I also believe that assault forge guns will work well with it - within 60 meters of the enemy Normal forge guns don't, lifting the trigger to fire makes massive drop in precision.
Still testing (see me die a bunch, I'm testing a new control scheme, if I kill you, congratz, you've been moved xD)

Gotta have that deadzone set right for any sort of accuracy - it deadens the super precise wobble that you, the holder of the move, make.

Update, I can now actually hit enemies with rifles, I ended up putting my crosshair sensitivity to 0, turn speed 50

Can you do me one more and test out melee with it, pleeeease :] I'll give it a try, gotta literally punch with the move controller to melee using the dust Scheme - the US also the psmove scheme that has melee as a button

Ads pilots, if you use a 10 width dead zone with a 60 height, your ads will rotate in place to your curser. :]

Alena Asakura wrote:It seems to me that the Move would be the logical controller for this game - you want response from the controller that is quick and precise, which I don't believe is possible with a DualShock 3. I've played both and I'm somewhat bemused by the fact that regardless of the inherent benefits of the Move controller, it just doesn't seem to hold a candle to the DualShock. Perhaps it's just that I haven't given it enough of an opportunity, but to do so would be detrimental to my attempts to play Dust at all... :) I've found that it gets much better once the correct settings are in place. Going back to the ds3 (or ds4 ) feels like playing in molasses compared to the move controller. Yes, the ds3 gets aim assist and the move doesn't, but I feel the only thing seperating them competitively is the user's muscle memory. I'm already getting as accurate with the move as average dust berries are with ds3 + aim assist.
I feel with more practice I'll start reaching (and surpassing) what I could do on the ds3. A few things are much better on the Move than the ds3 from the beginning, even without muscle memory: Vehicle turrets (OMFGBBQ so much better xD) Plasma Cannons (If you are good with placos using the controller, you'll be a terror walking with the move) shotguns are about even on the controller and the move, but the move allows for a far higher skill ceiling for all kinds of hatemail inducing shenanigans
Rifles can make better use of cover with the move, and work great when you have team-mates around. I feel that there is a higher gun-game rifle ceiling for the move as well.
The big downfall; tactical rifles have a much higher skill floor to use effectively than on the controller, but also have a much higher possible skill ceiling - (headshotheadshotheadshot boom boom boom)
I've found that making the switch is very doable, but i also realize I'm learning an entirely new controller, and like learning any new controller, it's going to take some time.
I suggest making an alt for the first day with the move if you are in the veteran bracket, that way you can practice the new controller in the academy (Which is there for learning xD )
I didn't, but I died a whole lot for that.

To get into the academy, you have to make a fresh psn account.
You stay in the academy until you reach a certain number of war points (2,000 warpoints iirc). Or, you reach a certain unrevealed warpoints per second.
After the academy, you join the rookie league, and every match is used to determine your MU ranking score. Once that score reaches a threshold, you get pushed into the veteran league permanently.

ROMULUS H3X wrote:Awesome, thanks for checking that out :) Might just borrow my friends PS Move since he doesn't use it, just to see what I can pull off with it.. How is the sensitivity on it? Better than the PS3 controller? Yes, it is very fast on screen. It doesn't have aim assist of any form, so i've found that sometimes I think I'm shooting an enemy, only to have it go between their legs, or between their arms, or under their helmet, next to their neck and out into thin air.

I know quite a few move 'optimized' shooters give the move slight aim assist that helps counter the involuntary nervous movements that cause the cross-hair to jitter.
"Sensitivity" Is how fast the cross-hair moves across the screen per unit of wrist movement. 0 is least movement, a general movement of the hand is required to move the cross-hair across the screen. 100 is maximum movement, barely a twitch will get you spinning. 0 is the most accurate (but the slowest)
Deadzone is the area in which the curser will not rotate the camera Turn speed is the rotational speed of the camera.
