It seems to me that the Move would be the logical controller for this game - you want response from the controller that is quick and precise, which I don't believe is possible with a DualShock 3. I've played both and I'm somewhat bemused by the fact that regardless of the inherent benefits of the Move controller, it just doesn't seem to hold a candle to the DualShock. Perhaps it's just that I haven't given it enough of an opportunity, but to do so would be detrimental to my attempts to play Dust at all... :) |

Going back to the ds3 (or ds4 ) feels like playing in molasses compared to the move controller. Yes, the ds3 gets aim assist and the move doesn't, but I feel the only thing seperating them competitively is the user's muscle memory. I'm already getting as accurate with the move as average dust berries are with ds3 + aim assist. I feel with more practice I'll start reaching (and surpassing) what I could do on the ds3. A few things are much better on the Move than the ds3 from the beginning, even without muscle memory: Vehicle turrets (OMFGBBQ so much better xD) Plasma Cannons (If you are good with placos using the controller, you'll be a terror walking with the move) shotguns are about even on the controller and the move, but the move allows for a far higher skill ceiling for all kinds of hatemail inducing shenanigans Rifles can make better use of cover with the move, and work great when you have team-mates around. I feel that there is a higher gun-game rifle ceiling for the move as well. The big downfall; tactical rifles have a much higher skill floor to use effectively than on the controller, but also have a much higher possible skill ceiling - (headshotheadshotheadshot boom boom boom) I've found that making the switch is very doable, but i also realize I'm learning an entirely new controller, and like learning any new controller, it's going to take some time. I suggest making an alt for the first day with the move if you are in the veteran bracket, that way you can practice the new controller in the academy (Which is there for learning xD ) I didn't, but I died a whole lot for that. Where is the academy?? I don't have a clue where this is. I've seen it written about but I've never seen any way in.
I'm hardly a veteran. I'm much closer to noob. I do have an alt I can use for the purpose, and I'll give it a go. A couple of things immediately come to mind, though, based on what I've already seen. One is using the SR (something I don't really do much any more), the crosshairs just won't stay still... It really disturbs my aim. lol
The other problem is one more of administration - Daily Missions are accessed using the R1 button which is apparently not active for that purpose on the PSM controller. How do you call up Daily Missions using it? |

How do you call up Daily Missions using it? Incidentally, I think I've worked out the academy. I remember my first few matches, I was running around in various maps with hardly any other players, wondering if this was all Dust was about. And then suddenly, I was in full-blown matches getting blown to smithereens.
As for new alts on the same psn account being able to access this, no they can't, I can verify that. I set up a brand new alt on the same account and found myself right back into normal pubs, stompers and all, with the skills of an absolute raw recruit.... |

Controllers beat the move with fully auto weapons and tactical rifles
The move wins hands down with shotguns and plasmacannons.
It's stupidly good with placos :D
My current settings:
Crosshair sensitivity 0 Deadzone width 70 Deadzone height 60 Turn Speed 50
My hypothesis is that the first shot is usually the most accurate with the move, meaning alpha weapons serve it best. Controllers have aim assist, so continuous fire and dps weapons serve them best.
I also believe that assault forge guns will work well with it - within 60 meters of the enemy Normal forge guns don't, lifting the trigger to fire makes massive drop in precision.
Still testing (see me die a bunch, I'm testing a new control scheme, if I kill you, congratz, you've been moved xD) _____________________________ Update: Vehicle turrets and the Move: SO FUN@@ Soooo, my two favorite weapons work great on the move huh??? Can you do me one more and test out melee with it, pleeeease :] Ok, the default melee sucks on the move (flick wrist), the second control scheme has melee as a button press, that would work great I might have to investigate the second control scheme. That's called something like "Playstation Move" I believe. Maybe it will solve the R1 button problem for Daily Missions as well.
It strikes me that virtually by definition, the PS Move should be superior to the DS3. Within the dead zone, the aiming reticule is controlled positionally by the Move controller, literally, you move the controller, and the reticule moves precisely to where you moved it. That's good for its immediacy but suffers from reticule "vibration" due to fine nervous movements. No doubt crosshair sensitivity of 0 has something to do with that.
The other thing I found when I tried it was that I couldn't turn fast enough. Even setting the turn speed to 100 didn't let me turn fast enough. I noticed that the turn only starts after you move out of the dead zone so perhaps a smaller dead zone will improve this, at the expense of less freedom for positional placement of the reticule.
I think the R1 Daily Missions issue would be a show stopper for me, though, if the second scheme doesn't fix it.... |

I think the R1 Daily Missions issue would be a show stopper for me, though, if the second scheme doesn't fix it.... Well, I've now tried both control schemes with the Move controller, and no matter what I do, there are problems. The R1 button (actually the T (trigger) button) doesn't do Daily Missions in either mode. You can't use the Navigator because the only R1 button that works for this is the DS3.
But the worst bit of it all is the weapon selector radial. I'm used to running along, and selecting say, the scanner or cloak, then using them on the run, which is important for a scout, because stopping is death in certain circumstances. Imagine my horror, then, when I held the "Move" button (R2) to select the cloak (motioning the Move controller in the appropriate direction) and STOPPED DEAD IN MY TRACKS. CCP has clearly not done enough work on the Move controller, probably thinking noone uses it so why bother. But of course noone will use it, if fundamental flaws like these plague it.... |
