LEVEL 2 FORUM WARRIOR!!!!!
Anyways, SCANS ARE OP and I made a fit and vid that I may or may not put on YouTube.
So it was an adv gallogi with 4 pro scans, proximity,flux,focused, and quantum.
I use it for 2 matches straight and won both games. In those 2 games I noticed few things.
GÇó Gallente logis are op but not rewarded. So many scans and intel kill assists but little wp. GÇó people fear scanners so much, you don't even have to fight to win, just scan them to hell. GÇó it only takes ONE GALLENTE LOGI TO WIN A MATCH FOR YOU. Both matches, I was only scanner. With was good in the case that I could really see the op-ness of scans. GÇó kill the scanner = chance to attack. This I noticed the first match. You know how you see a logi repping someone? Your priority is to kill them so that te heavies will fall and you can attack right? Same with the gallogi. The moment I died, enemy started to push. Once I spawned and perma-scanned them, they backed down again.
Now, while scans are 'OP' they actually aren't really 'OP'. I fit. Really know how to explain my self tho.
There is no doubt that scans are annoying and can scan all, but I just thought if a GREAT WAY TO FIX them.
Make scanners have a certain scan type. Focuses scanners are made to scan scouts. Basic scanners are made to all undamped suits. Make a new scanner that scans suits with damps.
Type C scans. Can scan all vehicles, and non-light suits. These are standard scanners.
Type B scans. Once you put a damp on any non-light dropsuit, it turns into a type b scan. Only type b scans can scan those suits. New scanner should be added.
Type a scans. Can only scan scouts. These are focused scanners.
I dont know how the community would feel about removing the pro varients of the scanners. I personally wouldn't mind.
This will bring a new wave of stealth assaults, will make scouts more useful, and will put real value on gallogis because the can carry all 3 types of scans with a scan bonus.

Active scanner type c - 60 (can scan all undamped sentinels) A-86 active scanner- rename to c-86 - 55 (can scan all undamped commandos/logis and sentinels) Creodron scanner type c - 45 (can scan all undamped commandos, assaults, logis, and sentinels)

scans do pin enemy teams down, it gives your entire team the lowdown on where the enemy are and that's why you end up in a blob, all facing the same direction.
and what about maps with open space whilst you're being scanned 200m away and have to somehow avoid all the roof campers?
scans do ruin the game, but only because they're team scans, you can be a new player in MLT suit yet benefit from PRO scans it's silly.
scans should be for you and your squad not the entire team, team scans are one of the big reasons why DUST is as one-sided as it is.
it was a HUGE mistake.

Yeah, milita suits benefit from whatever scans are present.
But they can also benefit from any nanohives present, anyone can use a reptool on them, anyone can use any uplinks, and pick-up sticks work just the same as well.
Scans however are the only one of these that present no benefit to the user unless the person getting the info is in their squad and consequently kills the scanned enemy during the scan. Scans mean diddly when your team is made of blueberries. But any and every other equipment can still take blueberry stupidity and still profit from it.
Blueberry wasted all of his ammo shooting a wall? Nanohive still works. Blueberry got himself shot up? Reptool still works. Blueberry got wasted right in front of you? Nanite Injector still works. Blueberry got bled out? Uplinks still work.
Your team is getting manhandled by teamwork, proto, and officer gear? Scans just tell the blueberries where their next death is coming from.

Next buff Intel kill assists to like +30.

That would be good actually. At least imo. I actually like scanners and don't want what I said to happen. I'm just sacrificing my love for scanners. But yeah they do need a major wp buff and I like the scan thingy. And the extra buff for the gallogi.

Problem, reppers don't wear out, injectors dot wear out either.
Personally, as a gal logi, leave the scanner alone, but maybe give a small buff to dampeners. Besides, for me to see everyone, I MUST use proto.
You know how expensive this is, 200k a pop, I'm hunted by everyone, and my main weapon is crap, or my tank is crap.
As for making a gal logi "team only" only compound the problem.
Hives, reps, links, and needles are team shared, scanners are not.
Also, excuse me on this, as for "incentive to use damps" this would be great if not everyone and their bother, sister, gimpy kitty is running around spamming officer. |

If scans got WP for all those killed from the entire team, I would say they are OP. But the fact of the matter is it's an inglorious and expensive job scanning for your team. High risk for you and little reward.
Scans are balanced by the fact you get so few WP.
I swear if people keep whining about it, I'm just going to play for a week straight doing nothing but scanning.

Rather than simple "lower profile? No pick up. Lower precision? pick up." why not have "far lower profile? Low chance to pick up. Far lower precision? Low chance to not be scanned"
Then make it like 50/50 or 60/40 chance to get scanned when it's around the same profile and precision.
Then scans can't be claimed OP anymore :D

Or, you can make it so you cant 360 spin and scan and can only carry one scanner on a suit. Reduce range to 75m and boom, balance. Also make active scanners an altitude type thing where as if i'm standing in a room above you, you cannot active scan.
