We use the term "port" very loosely. Some call it a port, some call it Dust (x86), but either way we are talking about a New Eden FPS on a current gen platform (PC/PS4).

And remember, as per my initial tweet: "The silence surrounding #Dust514 's future needs to stop" Meaning, we want CCP to talk to us about the future of Dust. Whatever the future might be. Perhaps they are doing EXACTLY what you describe in your post. Then they need to open a dialogue with us about it.

For every player who quits spending money on Dust 514 because it is getting ported there is a player that sees it migrating to a newer platform, gets hype, and buys AUR every paycheck from that point forward.

I would fall into that later category.

He's also making the assumption that there is no inherent loss associated with remaining quiet. For every day that players feel there is no guaranteed future for the franchise, another potential AUR buyer stops playing the game. From a business standpoint this is far more damaging to a company's potential proceeds. After all, a player that stops playing the game is 100% guaranteed to not spend money on it...whereas a player who continues to play the game, even if it will be ported/remade in the future, still has a chance to continue spending money on it.

If Dust were to get a port of some kind our progression and assets would follow us. As explained by CCP Rouge here.

Of course, this is still assuming Legion is a part of Dust's future... which we can't say for certain. But the point I am trying to make here is that CCP is aware of player's progression and assets and wants to preserve that in the next iteration of Dust.

TL;DR - I'll buy things in Dust 514 (PS3) because it is likely it will follow me to Dust (PC/PS4).

Because when a franchise has a future, prospects from players are higher. I personally am NOT spending money on Dust right now because the future is unclear...if that changes, I likely start spending money again. You're also making the assumption that money spent in the current game will have no benefit in future games. While this is unclear, there is nothing that says one way or another.

Yes, they haven't spoke to us in a long time. Thus the #PortDust514 campaign.

The guy who said the whole "laser focused" thing, David Reid, was a marketing dude and was laid off. CCP Shanghai is now led by Rouge and Rattati, who have so far done a damn decent job considering what they were given to work with. Imho. How about we laser focus on the current management, seeing as they are the decision makers now.

Speculation, but we shall see. Certain things may not transfer to Dust (x86)/Legion because they aren't applicable though. For example, if boosters have been completely reworked then CCP may refund the boosters' AUR value or give you a comparable item. You see what I'm saying?

Layoffs
In October 2011, following a large controversy over its introduction of microtransactions to the game EVE Online, CCP announced that it would be reducing its staff. As stated in a CCP press release, the layoffs affected about 20% of all world wide jobs within CCP, most in their Atlanta, GA office. These layoffs were mainly of staff related to the development of World of Darkness.[30]

On 28 August 2014, CCP shutdown their San Francisco studio to refocus their efforts on EVE Online. At the same time of the announcement, the CFO, Joe Gallo and CMO, David Reid quit.[31] As of 2015, none of CCP's original founders are still with the company.[32][33]

Well, then think of #PortDust514 as an attempt to keep them from making the same mistakes I know we may disagree on what CCP will do, but I don't think you are against the idea of them actually taking to us. So, you know, solidarity and all that.

That's not the way a company works, man. Earnings from all their IPs go into the same bank at the end of the day.

As well, the fact that all progress made on PS3 would just get you further ahead for PS4 would be plenty incentive to keep playing and buying items, since they would all carry over.

The pessimistic tin foil is even more hilarious than the generic tin foil.

CCP could clear things up for us if they wanted to. Until they feel inclined to do so all we can do is speculate. Sometimes that speculation is negative.

It wasn't that long ago you were pretty upset with CCP's silence, was it? Now you have seen behind the NDA and know what's going on. We STILL don't. We're coming up on two years now. Can you blame us?

So by port DUST 514, we mean hurry up and make Legion right?

I still find it funny that everyone got mad when they found out CCP wanted ti give us everything we asked for, but changed the name. People cared so much about the name.

Also, the "EVE: Legion" copyright was dropped. Not sure how much more dead you can get than that.
