Here's your port, and why it's not coming, lol. We use the term "port" very loosely. Some call it a port, some call it Dust (x86), but either way we are talking about a New Eden FPS on a current gen platform (PC/PS4). And remember, as per my initial tweet: "The silence surrounding #Dust514 's future needs to stop" Meaning, we want CCP to talk to us about the future of Dust. Whatever the future might be. Perhaps they are doing EXACTLY what you describe in your post. Then they need to open a dialogue with us about it. as stated further down in that thread, they can't.
Dust is making money after year of it not, they don't want this to stop, and news of Legion will likely do that. So until the game is coming out the doors that very moment, CCP will keep quiet to milk Dust. They fear community backlash, and they probably can't figure a reason to keep people playing Dust after it's announcement since Funds earned from Dust stay in Dust, so helping here doesn't help else-where.

For every player who quits spending money on Dust 514 because it is getting ported there is a player that sees it migrating to a newer platform, gets hype, and buys AUR every paycheck from that point forward. I would fall into that later category. unlogically so, why would you give Dust money, when it won't go to the game you want it for?
You have to look at this like a marketer, it doesn't make sense to think the player-base would give one game money for another when it doesn't go there. I'm sure some would, but many more will see my stance, and hold there money to invest in Legion. |

I would fall into that later category. He's also making the assumption that there is no inherent loss associated with remaining quiet. For every day that players feel there is no guaranteed future for the franchise, another potential AUR buyer stops playing the game. From a business standpoint this is far more damaging to a company's potential proceeds. After all, a player that stops playing the game is 100% guaranteed to not spend money on it...whereas a player who continues to play the game, even if it will be ported/remade in the future, still has a chance to continue spending money on it. Why would CCP assume this when they're reporting Dust is making money as it is?
It makes less sense to put another game on the table with the same exact content and assume the Dust player-base would keep spending on Dust, rather then save for Legion. |

I'm sure some would, but many more will see my stance, and hold there money to invest in Legion. If Dust were to get a port of some kind our progression and assets would follow us. As explained by CCP Rouge here.Of course, this is still assuming Legion is a part of Dust's future... which we can't say for certain. But the point I am trying to make here is that CCP is aware of player's progression and assets and wants to preserve that in the next iteration of Dust. TL;DR - I'll buy things in Dust 514 (PS3) because it is likely it will follow me to Dust (PC/PS4). #1Posted: 2014.05.03 15:58
And don't forget when CCP said how Lazer Focused they were on PS3.
It's far more likely they'd expect a much larger player-base to appear on PS4, and want a cleaner slate. Expect a bonus package for being from Dust - not much else. |

CCP employee suddenly has dollar sign eyes. and I'm kinda surprised you made this post, do you know of any company okay with making less when they don't have too?
I'm kinda wondering if you're trying to debate or start a fight with a post like this. |

It makes less sense to put another game on the table with the same exact content and assume the Dust player-base would keep spending on Dust, rather then save for Legion. Because when a franchise has a future, prospects from players are higher. I personally am NOT spending money on Dust right now because the future is unclear...if that changes, I likely start spending money again. You're also making the assumption that money spent in the current game will have no benefit in future games. While this is unclear, there is nothing that says one way or another. You got me there, it's not like Dust funded itself before it was even developed. Money has to come from somewhere.
It's just highly unlikely, unless with Legiosn announcement Dust was given an experation date - then I could see how spending Aur here might get transferred there, but otherwise I really don't see it. Dust is getting some development, and that does cost money. Anything this game makes should be getting spent.
But like you said, it's unclear. I'm just confident my conclusion makes more sense then either of yours from a marketers perspective. |

Shadowed Cola wrote:And don't forget when CCP said how Lazer Focused they were on PS3. The guy who said the whole "laser focused" thing, David Reid, was a marketing dude and was laid off. CCP Shanghai is now led by Rouge and Rattati, who have so far done a damn decent job considering what they were given to work with. Imho. How about we laser focus on the current management, seeing as they are the decision makers now. Shadowed Cola wrote:It's far more likely they'd expect a much larger player-base to appear on PS4, and want a cleaner slate. Expect a bonus package for being from Dust - not much else. Speculation, but we shall see. Certain things may not transfer to Dust (x86)/Legion because they aren't applicable though. For example, if boosters have been completely reworked then CCP may refund the boosters' AUR value or give you a comparable item. You see what I'm saying?
Quote:Layoffs In October 2011, following a large controversy over its introduction of microtransactions to the game EVE Online, CCP announced that it would be reducing its staff. As stated in a CCP press release, the layoffs affected about 20% of all world wide jobs within CCP, most in their Atlanta, GA office. These layoffs were mainly of staff related to the development of World of Darkness.[30]
On 28 August 2014, CCP shutdown their San Francisco studio to refocus their efforts on EVE Online. At the same time of the announcement, the CFO, Joe Gallo and CMO, David Reid quit.[31] As of 2015, none of CCP's original founders are still with the company.[32][33]
That is good news, honestly, but let's see it to believe it, they're already following there predecessors decision making by keeping us out of the loop of Legion. The only noticeable improvement has been updates being more what people want, which was told what would happen when our staff got cut to pieces for Legions sake back before the old CCP left. |

Well, then think of #PortDust514 as an attempt to keep them from making the same mistakes I know we may disagree on what CCP will do, but I don't think you are against the idea of them actually taking to us. So, you know, solidarity and all that. We probably only disagree on how CCP is viewing this - on everything else, we're likely comrades in arms.
CCP should talk to us more. No doubt. |

That's not the way a company works, man. Earnings from all their IPs go into the same bank at the end of the day. As well, the fact that all progress made on PS3 would just get you further ahead for PS4 would be plenty incentive to keep playing and buying items, since they would all carry over. Can you really make this claim? I don't know how CCP handles finances or how they handle budgeting, how do you know? |

Now you have seen behind the NDA and know what's going on. We STILL don't. We're coming up on two years now. Can you blame us? He should be far more understanding. He quit Dust over CCP's lack of communication TWICE.
Or was it three times?
idk, I stopped counting, Aeon used to be one of the loudest, WAKE THE **** UP CCP, voices on the forums, but like you said, now that he has NDA - he changed. |

He has a point.
You guys remember Uprising's Heavy Thread started by Lance 1ballArmstrong?
100+ pages, Rattati first was introduced to a lot of us through that thread, because he came in and said, "Wazzup, I hear yo asses be getting spanked, how can I help?"
Then he'd theory craft with us, but that was it. He did much what Archduke is doing here, mostly posting just to pacify rage then bring solutions.
Which, I'm honestly fine with, but someone has to troll CCP since the rest of you are cowards.
