Well, either you got moved up MU (which is good for you) or they are up to the usual "find a low MU player and squad with them" BS I see them pull every day. THIRD ROCK have become the gold standard for scrubbery of late with that. Followed closely by Groupo, Ecce, AE, and Iberica. Seems to be the only way they can maintain high K/Ds. Having to play in the High MU bracket has a normalizing effect over time. No matter how good you are, most are just as good especially if squaded up in that bracket. Which is why there are 10x more leaves in the high MU than low MU. So they go stomp starter fits to make them feel better about small epeens. Make a friend who just came out of academy and watch his games if you want to watch it happen. I have for the last two weeks, and they are there as 3/4 of a squad every day. Every game I watch him play is frustrating as hell for him, and for me to watch. Him in standard or free fits, them in proto MK0s/AK0s/CK0s.... they go 32/2 etc. He goes 2/11. How long do you think he will want to play at that rate?
They are doing more to kill the game than all the lag and imbalance issues combined. |

The matches I played before I went to work today I was forced up against T.H.I.R.D.R.O.C.K which resulted in me getting sniped repeatedly by Saxonmish using a Thales. Why I am placed in multiple matches against those guys when I am just an average-skilled solo player is beyond me.
I now get home from work and the first match I play I am thrown against Dozermouse and his Fatal Absolution buddies; needless to say they ****** me up.
Who do you think I am, CCP? You think I am a god at this game or something? What do you want from me...my blood, sweat, and tears?
This MU ranking crap needs to be reworked because it clearly screws people over. -or- How about you metalock the matches to help level things out? -or- How about you remove squads from Public Matches?
Better question is why you dont just counter snipe him.
Dude you do realize that not everyone has SPs in Sniper rifle right.... Try counter sniping without SP in it and tell me how that turns out for you. Even if you hit a proto commando with a head shot he will walk away from your milita fit sniper rifle even with 3 complex mods on it. Love it when Captain Obvious shows up. You think NO ONE tries to counter snipe.......
Every thread has the guy that states the obvious counter...forgetting that most players don't have all the option especially the ones in the lower MU bracket. |

Going to explain this really slowly so you understand the concept.... There are only two MU brackets in the game so there is really no "your" level. Second this is not real life and there is no skill set to develop by playing against "better" players as you say. There are only a few variables to manipulate in the game and you can learn them in about a week. The biggest difference is SP, gear, and solo v not solo. You can't learn those as a skill set. So, there is no getting better by playing specific opponents. Its a game with really simple mechanics, but major effects placed on it by outside factors like those mentioned above. So, if you want that experience of being sniped from the redline or squad stomped while solo by all means enjoy. All you learn is that a certain number of players in this game will go to no end to ensure that you don't have any fun while promoting their own fun exclusively. Its a game and if everyone is not having fun then people leave, like they have over the past year.
Don't think of this as real life. There is nothing useful to real life to be learned here. If you have a desire to "get better" focus it on something that matters not a video game gasping for its last breath. |

Echo 1991 wrote:The simple solution to this is to run in an organised squad as well. It's not exactly hard to find people you like playing with.
You can't complain people who squad up always smack you if you don't want to squad up. As I have have said for a while now, it's not the squad thats the problem, the fact that they can just use seemingly unlimited amounts of proto gear against guys in standard and advanced is.
Meta level lockouts need to be implemented for it to be more balanced cos proto gear can give a significant advantage.
You realize most players run solo right? Squads are the minority not the majority. New players especially are solo players. The low MU bracket is overwhelmingly solo. That is why squading is so powerful. Its almost always 4 guns to 1. So simply telling people to squad is not the answer. Even if they do 4 random guys who wander around separately are just four solo players with stripes over their heads.
As for metalocks that would be a great to see. We have the basics of them in place, so just enforce them. Squads will still be good and SP gaps will provide an advantage, but 32/2 games are a lot harder to achieve in starter fits than officer gear. Plus if the payouts scale accordingly it may dissuade some from playing down. |
