Well, I've got all the gallente specialty suits to proto, and I gotta say the commando isnt bad. 1 proto dmg mod on the commando gives you 17% damage, 3 dmg mods on the assault gives you just about the same % of damage with stacking penalties, so you could get even more DMG from commando by having 2 proto dmg mods.
The DMG from commando also applies to plasma cannon and shotgun as well, so you could keep things versitile by being able to equip 2 assault rifles, 1 assault rifle and a plasma cannon, 1 assault rifle and a shotgun.
Heck sometimes I equip 1 rail rifle and 1 assault rifle on the gallente commando.
I do kinda see your point with the Gal Assault getting 25% ROF bonus to assault rifles with the new hotfix though, but the commando also gets a reload bonus ontop of the damage bonus, so it would be able to reload the assault rifle faster than the assault, so has a slightly better longterm fire output.
I do always wish the commando had like 2-3 more module slots tho.
I actually think the gallente sentinel is in a worse place than the commando, but yeah, being a suit based around giving extra damage to the main rifles that has the shortest ammount of range, you'd think there'd be a bit more tank or speed to go with the short range of the assault rifle. |

GENERAL FCF wrote: dropsuits don't get damage mod stacking penalties anymore. Either a glitch from the last update earlier this year or a permanent decision I don't know. But see for yourself! As it stands no penalties for stacking damage mods on dropsuits right now. It's easy math on field. I personally favor a Caldari Assault BPO fitting with 5 damage mods to make my STD RR & bolt pistol fire harder than proto. The game will tell you if you've been nerfed by looking at your damage multiplier on dropsuit fittings.
are you sure damage mods dont get a stacking penalty any more? I should go test it. Usually what I do to test it is equip one suit with no damage mods, point my gun at a friendly supply depot in the redzone, and see what effecacy bonus it would get against it, then switch to a suit with 1 complex damage mod, do the same, then switch to a suit with 2 dmg mods, do the same, then 3 dmg mods and do the same.
I know the dropsuit fitting screen shows the damage mod bonus, but that screen hasn't ever calculated the stacking penalty, even though the stacking penalty should be applying and working properly in the game.
I'll go test this the next time i can, but you should too just to be sure. |
