So I've been playing an alt account off and on for about a year now. I use it to test out skills before I waste my Sp on my main. That said I don't play it too much and mostly just build up passive SP on the thing. I have been trying to hit rank 2 so I could trade with it for ages but at about 5 points for login in and 1-5 points on average for a battle it takes a while to get 2k points for rank 1 and 3-4k for rank 2.
A few months ago I noticed my points to next level jumped up about 600 points, setting me back several days of work 'earning' my rank. Three days ago I was at 209 to rank 1. I missed logging in for a day on that account because to be honest it isn't that important to do so any more. Low and behold today I find myself 463 to rank 1. Is this some kind of weird bug, or an actual part of the design?
Every day you fail to login you lose such a huge chunk of your rank? I mean it's already hard enough to lnaturally level up the loyalty rank system. This basically makes it impossible for newer players to get a high enough rank to be able to do player trading imo. I mean if this is truly in place even spending money to raise your rank seems like a bad idea, after all 250+ points is 500 aurum worth of rank a day.

Eh it's more along the lines of 'play dust every day on every character or else'.
Honestly I wouldn't even have an alt account if the multiple character slot system was really worth anything. Given that they don't earn passive SP though it puts them thousands, if not missions of SP behind a character that would. If you actually want to play two completely different play styles your told to grind out an alt that earns even less SP.

I've never cared about rank until CCP decided to make rank 2 a requirement for player trading. The whole system is complete crap. You earn next to nothing for logging in and participating in battle. Add to that you lose points far faster than you gain them makes it a joke, a joke you have to put up with for at least the first two ranks.

Well if it's a bug it's happened to me two separate times that I've noticed, across all 3 characters on the same account even if their LR values are different due to how much I might play them. And it's always 'bugged' towards the negative. I'm not suddenly gaining points I didn't have.

Not really much to say. I logged in to find my rank down by 250 or so points. It's the second time this had happened to me and I just happened to notice this time that I hadn't logged in for about two days when it happened. So I was curious if this was an intended mechanic or not.
The first time I lost over 600 points, enough to notice the loss but I wasn't absolutely sure how much. Since then I started to keep a score of my to next level points. I was happy because I was almost rank 1, 209 to go. Then I log in the other day and I was back at 458 to go. If you count the 5 earned for login in that day it's over 250 lost.
And no I have never altered my PlayStation clock to try and earn extra points. In fact I haven't touched it in about 8 years since I set it to automatic.
