But then I thought about the everything I gambled on this game, my real life money and time. I'm not going to throw away my investment just yet, and I suggest you don't either.. You should probably look up the Sunk Costs Fallacy.
"In economics, a sunk cost is any past cost that has already been paid and cannot be recovered. For example, a business may have invested a million dollars into new hardware. This money is now gone and cannot be recovered, so it shouldnGÇÖt figure into the businessGÇÖs decision making process.
Or, letGÇÖs say you buy tickets to a concert. On the day of the event, you catch a cold. Even though you are sick, you decide to go to the concert because otherwise GÇ£you would have wasted your moneyGÇ¥.
Boom! You just fell for the sunk cost fallacy.
Sure, you spent the money already. But you canGÇÖt get it back. If you arenGÇÖt going to have a good time at the concert, you only make your life worse by going."

CCP has no plans for Dust or a port, but yeah, Murder Medic is right... Don't biomass.

benandjerrys wrote:After seeing the shield ideas a couple months ago in biomassed channel I probably will out of respect for the work you tried to push. Ah, well Ripley cannot take all of the credit for that. Breakin Stuff and Cat Merc also greatly contributed. It is my sincerest hope that we may see the shield modules that were proposed.
If you want my unsolicited advice on this...
- Don't biomass. I can't stress this enough. Even if CCP doesn't get around to porting Dust for years, you don't want to lose the SP and name you have created for yourself.
- Uninstalling isn't a bad idea if Dust put a bad taste in your mouth. You don't want to play a game that you don't enjoy playing. You definitely should not want to play a game without a future.
- Keep in touch on the forums, on /r/Dust514, and the Dust twitter accounts. If nothing else you can see what is up with the community every now and then.
- Maybe reinstall in a few patches just to see what has changed. Warlords 1.4 or 1.5 would probably be a good time to rejoin Dust. With the current development time tables that would be around June 2016.

DiablosMajora wrote:As someone in finance, I just have to say that sunk costs are ultimately BS. Don't make me start going off on cashflows, NPVs, bookvalue, marketvalue, and depreciation of those concert tickets. And if we were talking about a corporation then you would probably be on the right track.
But in this context we are talking about a person and their perceived value of giving CCP their money. So many players have hung around Dust 514 because they gave CCP hundreds of dollars; they then feel as though they cannot leave Dust because it would present a loss.
Real talk: you don't owe Dust 514 anything. I don't care if you have spent $10 or $10,000, if you have stopped having fun and disappointed with the complete lack of communication from CCP then just walk away.

Mobius Wyvern wrote:I'm just going to keep doing my daily logins and Warbarge claims without actually playing for the time being. At least that way I'm getting the maximum possible amount of Passive SP gain so if the game does migrate, I'll have made some progress. Ladies and gentlemen, the mantra of the Dust playerbase.
Real talk, I wish I knew the percentage of people who just login daily for warbarge junk and SP/AUR.
