CoD (call of duty) has them, dust should have them too but a more "EPIC" version. 2 or 3 gunners = the pilot packing some serious air to surface devastation |

The dropships can have gunners on them. I've also heard that there will be even more aircraft types beyond just the dropships we currently have. So... yep, it's already there. |

Gunships are #2 on most-popular unannounced vehicles, with APCs at #1 If large turrets have to have that "tank-top" look on them, then make up a Medium Turret to fit on one of these. Only one main gun of course, but maybe 3 gunners (it is a gunship after all). I'm thinking 2 turrets on top is enough to hold back a solo fighter or dropship, one on bottom to assist main-turret in killing AV troops. The hard counter would be a missile-fit HAV, soft counters in multiple fighters, covered AV troops or dropping H4X0R5 to kick out occupants. hard counter pending LMT recoil fix of course. |

I dont think there should be extra gunners maby one if you weaken the drivers weapon yes but 3 gunners and a piolet with a gun would be a lot.
Also besides a gunship they thould add fighters maby not high speed ones like on battlefeild but probably one that can slow down like Halo banshees.
Besides all that you should probly put request: before the title so GMs and DEVs can tell you want something done. |

Spinal mounted large gun, with maybe a small ball turret for a gunner. Although my dropship does a decent job of air dominance as is... |

my idea was 3 turrets, 2 side turrets and one front mounted gun, with maybe a 25% damage bonus to gunship turrets (or if they put in levels affecting vehicles/suits per level 5% damage bonus per level of gunships) with the stealth bomber losing 2 turrets for a bottom mounted large turret slot |

I'd disagree with how capable a drop ship is in a fight. Most seem to be made of wax paper and can get shot down really easily. Also the turrets are typically meant for when you are trying to defend yourself from other airborne hostiles. It doesn't seem well suited for air to surface combat and the turrets are in an inadequate position to be effective in the drop ships front. Also a dropship is a transport for infantry and not meant to be traditionally designed for combat.
The gunship as a majority of us want (myself included) would be more tuned to fighting the enemy rather then transporting troops. Might still be a glass cannon but the concept is that it would probably have a higher degree of maneuverability and the turrets are facing forward rather then to the sides making it much more ideal for direct air to air or air to surface combat. You could also have other equipment for say air to air defenses like decoy's to pull swarmers off the ship and so forth. So theres a touch more possibilities for ISK/Aurum purchases as well beyond just the machine. |

Make it like a souped up banshee, and you have a winner. Even a VTOL would be nice. |

i think since theirs already 2 types of drop ships they should just add a heavy dropship that has more gun ports, less manuverability... more armor/shields, and a driver mounted gun |

Well if they were still going ahead for the fighter air craft they had in 2009, then i could see a module for it to do a bombing run or something in the larger battles. |

That sounds more like a fighter, which is already a known project slated to come in during one of the first expansions after release. I think they'll pop up after release on SiSi for testing. Their VTOL abilities rule out banshee controls, that mapping would be way too unintuitive for anything other than alien sky-bikes.
As for gunships, if it has 2 turrets instead of 3, both gunners need to be positioned to effectively engage air and ground threats, as I think you would need at least two small turrets to fend off even "light" vehicles. For the main gun, either large or a new medium size turret, but if it can swivel at all only about a 30-degree downward cone to aim with. Being gunships and all, they should either be in hover-mode only, or slow bomber variants of fighters that are heavy enough to stall if you try to aim that gun at high-flying air targets. |

I would like to say the VTOL from Mech Assault 2 is an excellent example of a gunship/light dropship |

A rather old dust video like 09 maybe, shows a VTOL type fighter craft. So they are there just a case of when will we get them.

While I do like the idea of an aerial attack vechicle,

don't use this as an arguement. This game is supposed to be at its worst, innovative, and at its best, revolutionary for the FPS genre. We don't need copy-paste from other games.
That said, I still like the idea of some sort of aerial attack vehicle |

Dropships that go down easily are either piloted by idiots, or poorly fit. My Prometheus is no HAV, but it can take a pretty good beating before I need to back off. |

I stopped reading here.
Dust already has aircraft with guns. Have you even played Dust at all ?

You think DUST should have something because CoD has it?
So we should just ditch SP & ISK because CoD DOESN'T have them.
And fitting should use completely free prototype gear just because you unlocked it by boosting XP.
Why not toss out all the other vehicles and include only gunships while we're at it? That'd be a GREAT idea. |

Honestly I think Dust514 should have something I honestly felt EVE should of had, since if EVE wanted to really stick by realistic -ness
Manual joystick controlled fighter craft ( AKA : a ship you can manually control, have dog fights with, really use like a ship )
When I say ship, I mean spacecraft / jet hybrid, again I'll say I was a bit disappointed when I 1st played EVE long long ago, due to the ships not being controlled manually with controller, that's how every ship I've seen in movies, books, other spacey games use to control allowing for some seriously interesting tactical combat.
I am ex Air force, so I am a little one sided to such a concept, but I am sure I can speak for others, the dropship is close, but to me it's a glorified helicopter, I want a jet hybrid maybe even able to have low orbit capabilities.
As I have now played eve for a fairly long time, I have PvPed and understand now that for your ship to be manually controlled in deep space, no one would hit the broad side of a moon, let along a tiny little velktor.
I am fairly sure that despite the orbital bombardment, dust players couldn't fire directly at EVE ships, or could they?..... |

They will be able to fire back into orbit eventually.
Also the joystick control was more of a technical limitation due to the way the server works. (Commands per tick, rather than real time control)
As for DUST, I'm all for more real controls.
Gunships would be nice too |
