Seriously there should be points for both Hacking and counterhacking.
There should be +50 +50 on hacking and successful hacking |

In both cases you only get points when the point flips over.
In the case of counterhacking, completing the counterhack instantly flips the point.
This is to encourage the idea of actually sticking around the point, and protecting it to make sure the hack completes.

I agree instead of +100 for when it flips
+50 for completing the hack and +50 for when it flips
advantage : people that charge the letter solo because their team is full of cowards might get some warpoints
Disadvantage: rewarding warpoint whores not carrying their own weight, Not really a disadvantage, Under the old system they would just hack distant points, at least now they are hacking letters,
and in Dom I would not run away from the letter if I wanted max WP, you are just asking to get shot

As far as I see, this would only reward/benefit Scouts who speed hack a point and then move on to the next one. They can run around and hack objectives behind the enemy for a quick +50 where as before they had to either defend their hack for their +100 or have their team move in to defend so they could move on.

No we read it correctly, our argument was that hacking a point that doesn't flip should award ZERO WP as it is an action that has no benefit to the team.
WP should only be awarded by benefiting the team in some way, and if the point does not flip then your hack did nothing. It would be akin to getting the +25 Warpoints for an Assist when the enemy didn't die and made it out alive.
There should be NO benefit to just trying to run around hacking points that get hacked back. Especially since it leads to a potential WP farm by just having somebody hack for +50s and then counter hack for the +100 (+80 / +20).

Hello there, and this is a cool thread, but it's also a matter of interpretation. 80 WP is for:.... and that's where the interpretation differs between players and the devs. A Hack of the panel is a 50 WP task. Defending a blue panel by stopping a red Hack from completing still involves the same Hacking task (earns 50 WP), but awards you 30 WP for being there to protect your team's blue panel. It was the "first" Defensive Bonus Points concept given to players long before "Defensive Bonus Points" became a full-blown mechanic in the game.
So your 50WP + 50WP idea is already there in our game, just not as generous with the defensive bonus as you may want, hehe.
Defensive Bonus points are already an INCREDIBLY lucrative way of racking up points in the match (arguably more than Squad-Leader commission points). But most players are busy being so flustered and drooling and excited dashing around trying to face-shoot, that they really don't clue into (and collect) Defensive Bonus points as much as they could. ....I'm a player who makes sure I use the Bonus Points scheme to power-boost my WP in the match, so I'm sure I'm not the only one who chooses to play "defensively" for its shear profit value. There's a whole "sequence" to the assets you should hack around the panel, and WHEN you should hack them, to make your bonus points go through the roof!
...But we don't see enough players who are clued into this. Stuff like this starts to re-define what qualifies as "a great player" in Dust, and who really has "got Gud Game, Dude!"
Some of us see SO many missed opportunities to make mad ISK and SP per match,... that the other players just run right passed and leave sitting on the battlefield. Good Dusting is done with good Looting, not just good Shooting.
If the Defensive Bonus scheme currently in the game isn't enough to lure players to stay and help insulate the Null points, then those players honestly won't be lured by ANY extra points you can suggest for Counterhacking.
Universe of good wishes for the 49, especially CCP Eterne...

Speed hacking suits are EXPENSIVE. At least they get some reward for sticking their asses out there. |
