Does the Krins damage mod have a stacking penalty? The description doesn't say so. If it does have one, does it apply only when Krins are stacked together or also when Krins are stacked with light weapon damage mods? HELP!!! |

It works just like in Eve.
All modules of the same function have a stacking penalty.
For example if you stack 1 of each level damage mod after stacking penalties you will have:
Individual bonuses: 7.00%, 4.35%, 1.71%, Total bonus: 13.56%
The same thing will take place if you stack the Krin with other damage mods.

But sidearm damage mods don't get penalized if you stack one with light weapon mods right? Because they affect different things. If so maybe the same thing applies to Krins. |

First not all mods have stacking penalties. Secondly im pretty sure even though we've known about it for awhile damage mods of different tiers and different buying methods (aur/isk) don't get stacking penalties unless that has been fixed? |

Stacking penalties have never been broken that I know of.
The only thing that was ever broken in relation to that is the UI not displaying proper info.

It has a stacking penalty, it's just a UI bug. Same goes with all the other damage modifiers as well.

The stacking penalty is applied when you use two or more of the same type of damage mod. For instance 3 light damage mods will have a stacking penalty on it, but 1 Heavy damage mod, 1 sidearm damage mod, and 1 light damage mod will have no stacking penalties applied to it.
The Krin's is a special case, I can't know for sure but I'm pretty positive that the stacking penalty applies with any other type of damage mod considering it gives a boost to all types of damage.

Here are the results of my ticket :)
My question:
Does the Krins Damage Mod have a stacking penalty? The description doesn't say it does. If so does it have a penalty only when stacked with other Krins or when stacked with any damage module?
Also, if I have two light weapon damage mods and one sidearm damage mod, is the sidearm mod affected by a stacking penalty? Thanks!
His answer:
Hello, this is GM Archduke.
Thank you for contacting the DUST 514 Customer Support Team. The KrinGÇÖs LEX -71 Damage Modifier should not have a stacking penalty with any damage modules. Also, stacking penalty should also apply to modules that are giving bonuses to the same attribute - in your example, two light damage mods would result in a slight stacking penalty on your light weapon damage bonus, but the sidearm damage mod should not be affected by this, and should give you the full bonus. Please note however, that there is a known display issue with the modified damage in the fitting window, and these numbers are unfortunately not displayed correctly at the moment. We're actively working on resolving this issue, and hope we can do so as soon as possible. |

You are incorrect and stating your position based on hearsay without any support or evidence (and it's something that can be demonstrated to be wrong) - all modules that affect the same statistic will have a stacking penalty, even if they are of different tiers.
It takes bonuses from the higher modules first however. So if you fit a 7% and a 5%, the 5% will incur the penalty.
http://wiki.dust514.info/index.php?title=Stacking_Penalties is an accurate calculator.
If you fit a krins alongside a complex light weapon damage mod, the light weapon damage portion of the krins will be penalized, while the sidearm portion will not be. If you fit a krins alongside a sidearm dmg mod, the sidearm portion would incurr penalty while the light weapon portion would not.
The UI in the fitting screen window does not display damage mods correctly and this is a known bug (that simply hasn't been fixed because it's incredibly low priority).

It does. If you stack 3- you can get almost 10% more damage including stack penalty.

My follow up question:
"Does the Krin's Mod get a penalty when stacked with other Krin's or does it have no stacking penalty at all?"
GM Archduke's answer:
"The KrinGÇÖs LEX -71 Damage Modifier should not have a stacking penalty with any damage modules, including itself. Items that do not have the stacking penalty mentioned in their description should not be affected by stacking penalties at all." |

if you had 6 high slots theoretically you could use
2 complex light damage mods 2 krin's damage mod 2 complex sidearm damage mods
and suffer from no stacking penalty whatsoever.

You'd get the penalty on the second Light and Side Arm mods, so you'd have to use 4 Krin's, 1 Light and 1 Side Arm to have no penalty. Which is actually less effective.
