see we can trade SKINS and APEX, I've bought both but not with real money, it hurts CCP's bottom line.
If you introduce quafe to that mix, and then other things, it heavily reduces the amount of things you couldn't buy without spending real money. if we can trade everything, eventually barely anything will be bought with actual cash.
if the money dries up we can say bye bye to this game, the folks who make EVE will not care, if it's a liability rather than an asset, it gets dumped.

Actually, that makes people want to spend more money on keys because they can sell the quafe bpos and skins they get, meaning more money for CCP.

Not just keys, but also buying more skins. You are pretty much buying in game currency.

Honestly I would think it be pretty much in CCP's favor, especially if they release something better than quafe BPO afterwards that couldn't be traded at first. The way I look at it things wouldn't be any different than it is now with skins and Apex suites. I've spent a little money on this game, buying a merc pack and a few odds and ends over the years. That said I just don't have the disposable income to ever consider spending something like $20 on a skin. That said I generally have the isk to do so and so I buy it off some one else.
That skin had to come from some where, some one had money to buy the skin in the first place. In fact several players who have a lot of money but need more isk to run their proto fits 24/7 seem to sell arum items on a regular basis. A normal person would never need more than one skin really. If you took all the players of Dust with the cash flow willing to blow it on a skin you'd get a very small number.
Add to that it would be a one time purchase isn't a great market strategy given how few new players join the game. On the other hand those same players buying multiple skins to sell to other people created a vastly inflated market base.

It would only make people more mad.
If someone bought a Quafe item, they should have the right to decide whether or not to sell it. If CCP limited that, they would come off as greedy. Plus, they would anger the customers that actually spent money on the game.
By allowing Quafe suits to be ultimately tradable, or any purchased items, they give real ownership to the players. Someone who was once willing to spend money on a Quafe item, feeling they got their money's worth, would then feel free to purchase more items knowing they have control over them in the future.
Also, if people who do not spend money (which are still important to have in the game), or spend relatively little, are able to use ISK or salvage to trade for Quafe items, they are more likely to spend time playing the game to get that ISK/Salvage feeling they can have some freedom to use it for other things.
Keeping people happy will keep the game more profitable in the long run than making short sighted decisions that would profit them in immediate future, but have significant ramifications.

I thought about this and I figured CCP could come up with Special Weapon Skins and Special Dropsuit Skins that can only be obtained through strongbox and milestone achievements.
Right now if we want to run a 'Quafe' weapon it is going to have to be the standard version of that weapon. CCP can make non-tradable 'Quafe' Weapon Skins that can only be obtained through strongbox. This would give people the opportunity to run a 'Quafe' version of their favorite proto weapon while helping maintain an incentive to purchase keys to open boxes.
The non-tradable Dropsuit Skins and Weapon Skins for milestone achievements can serve as an incentive for people to continue to play the game. They will be like trophies. |
