How should i fit it?
Specced it to ADV today, and boy does it feel like crap. Extremley bad recharge delay. Pretty clunky. Feels vulnerable. Purpose for the suit is a mobile sniper that does not operate in the redline,
Minimum requirement Tactical Sniper + Rail Rifle.
Also, if you use protofits, make sure you have caldari commando set to ADV in the skill tree. So far, it is not a suit i will take to proto anytime soon.
thanks

Your main asset weapon wise is your assault rail rifle. Your regular rail rifle is far from useless if you can get good with it. I try to fit some sniping in, but there's a very limited number of environments where it's actually effective. Calmando have a lot of drawbacks, big hitboxes, no grenades, and crappy crappy ewar that makes us total scoutbait outside of the redline or perches. In spite of that, I have a lot of fun on my calmando shredding players with rails before they even know what hit them.
I have lots of dual rail or sniper rail fits that work great, however, make some fits that think a little outside the box. Try fits with a regular rail rifle and a shotgun, or a assault rail rifle and a swarm launcher. Yes your damage buff is only going to one weapon, but the reload speed buff is hitting both, and fits like that are well worth trying out.
Most of my fits are pretty boring dmg buff + hitpoints mixes. Obviously have some fits that get uplinks out.
At some point I will make a video showing all my calmando fits.

I have two other commando fits, the min for swarms or mass driver, and the amarr for pure damage. Thats the guy with the shotgun + light weapon of choice.
I've been giving snipers crap about the redline, so i figured its better to try it out with the calmando. I was just not prepared on how gimped it feels. Where my min is mobile, and the amarr is like a rock, the cal is just...different lets say.
Look forward to the vids man.

I used it like this:
std cal cmdo suit 3 krins dmg mods ARR RR std nanohive rep mod
playstyle: long range surprise attacker next to cover, shield regen is enough between fights( most of hp is shield based). playstyles works well with prof 3 SP skills and being a good shot after 20 rounds are fired.

Not really, you can make up for the deficiencies other commandos.
Min you can use its mobility and AV to devastating effect. Amarr is a pure brick and the Gallente are brusisers + rep masters.
Where the Caldari commando falters is its has the recharge rate of the Amarr Assult (20 hp), and the recharge Delay of the Amarr logi(6 seconds). Depeleted its 8 seconds. Thats really bad for a shield suit. Where it ought to be very strong, witha good recharge rate at least, it turns out to be as bad at shields as the amarr suits.
Its not very mobile, not a brick, terrible shield reps, very long delays, and thats before i worry about hitpoints and weapons.
I'm not one for shield QQ, I have the cal assault, sentinel and logis, and they work just fine. I maintain that the cal sentinel is the best solo heavy, the cal assault would be FOTM if the Rail Rifle wasn't so useful in the gallente assault, and the logi bonus needs some work but the suit its self isn't bad at all.
But man, this suit has me stumped. All the talk about scrambler rifles, you would think caldari players woud QQ alot more about this.

Yes but most of them have the advantage of actually having somewhat functioning weapons. The sniper rifle is not a weapon that 'functions' in almost any sense of the word, unless you're several hundred meters back from a fight at which point you're no longer a functioning teammate.
Std rail rifles recieved a pretty massive nerf to 'cqc' a while back because they were overperforming - it's hard to play them at standoff range without a functioning 'sidearm'. ARR's while nice still have a number of issues at shorter ranges especially when on a suit that is currently so ****ing bad in its base statistics as the calmando.
An ammando or galmando benefits greatly from being an armor tanked suit with a relatively high base hp and the ability to fit multiples of the the single best module in the game (complex armor repairer) and get up to ~30hp/second which allows for extremely fast turnarounds and brawling/skirmishing in armor even when taking incidental damage. Y'know what happens to shields when they take incidental damage? their repair stops entirely and the entirety of the delay needs to be waited out, turning that already long delay and slow recharge into something that takes the left side of forever, especially because the inhibition value is literally something that does not function - the vast majority of weapons can still shut down shield recharge at ~170-180m with a single bullet
So yeah, bad weapon options, bad/extremely underpowered tanking style, bad fitting, bad hit boxes, bad ewar and no grenades = worst of the 'bad' suits = noncompetitive.

3 complex damage mods, 2 complex profile dampners, proto rr and tacsr. If you are not fitting 3 damage mods in the high slots you are doing it wrong. The calmando is a long range specialist where fitting more tank is pointless. You just need to be very aware of your distance to enemies at all times or you can be quickly overwhelmed.

Find it goes best with a rail rifle in a skirmish role on open ground.
Forget bios and e-war and reinforce the natural advantages of the suit which is its buffer and damage mod and go with 2x damage mods, extender, armour rep, and nanohive.
2nd fit is a full shield tank with rails which is sill effective at the right range.
Mobile sniper is fun and occasionally I hit something; go with ARR as second gun.

This suit is definitely and desperately in need of a fix to its Shield recharge and delay values. It doesn't help that the Sniper Rifle is an impractical weapon of choice.
More shield extenders always seems better than more of anything else on this suit especially.
