....it is renamed "Faction Warfare". Here's why:
I don't think anyone really uses it as a general guide to upgrade your clone. It does nicely display all the various dropsuits of all factions and a general idea of what weapons those factions prefer. It looks pretty cool too. By altering this menu and the function of Factional Warfare I believe an amazing new experience in Dust can be created.
Factional Warfare should be changed to allow only these suits in the Progression tab to be selected. They would replace all your created dropsuits in FW mode and act like frontline suits in a way. They are always free in FW. One thing that has always bothered me about FW in Dust is the idea of paying for my own uniform. I wouldn't join an army like that. Also, the yellow boxed gear in these dropsuits should be made unchangchable. The community should be involved in creating a newer selection of these FW suits. Many of the dropsuits already in the progression tab are great, but others need some work, and a better variety of logistics would be good.
I think this would add a great incenvtive to playing FW in a whole new way. Also, it would give new (and older) players a vision on how to streamline and truly progress their clone to fight for their faction. Imagine: battles of all Caldari vs. all Gallente with their racial gear and Minmatar vs. Amarr just ilke it !!!!!! YEAH!!!!! |

Like I said, there are many suits that need work, or to be outright eliminated. That's where the community comes in. Maybe a Ghost Blade may want to look into suggesting some better fits? |

You are all correct. What would be some good fits? .... Pretend you are a money grubbing intergalactic empire |

Maybe having our options limited is exactly what we need! ... not too much though.
There will still be three tiers of dropsuits and gear and depending on your skills you will find the the suit that best suits you Or, in my case, the state You will still have access to the unfitted slots through the edit menu and based on your core skills this can make a big impact. |

That's the thing about FW in Dust....it has always just felt weird. I don't think in FW we should be considered as mercs or militia but soldiers for the faction we are fighting for. That's where the loyalty payments come in. I guess we are essentialy paid in company script and the various empires are essentially the largest of corporations. It's confusing.....are we paramilaries or just military?
Beyond our clone's crisis of identity I truly believe a game mode to function in this manner would be amazing and invigorating to Dust. I also completely agree that the "progression" tab should not be kept as is, but greatly overhauled, in the manner we are describing. Yes, fix the fits, fix the scrolling, fix-up FW
As clones have mentioned above; this would work great for new players. They can have gear a step above to get a feel for it, decide where they'd like to focus, and loyalty script to access better gear for their mercenary career. They need battlefield experience and a little stockpile before entering the cold unforgiving depths of New Eden.
......also, I'm not a big fan of the nicknames. I'd prefer the good ole' "State Protectorate Assault" or something like that. |
