When Dust was launched, the promise was for one universe, and to to that, the two would be somewhat dependent. Sadly that dependence never materialized, and for a while it seemed as if it was to be a parasitic relationship, rather than the symbiotic one I had hoped for. Then the ties were loosened.
I dreams of EVE pilots providing all consumables for Dust players (baring officer and factional gear), and dust players being important to EVE pilots to ease access to raw materials. I dreamt that the two could exist apart, but working together would be encouraged due to the benefits. Take over a district/planet, and the EVE corp could harvest it with better yield.
That didn't happen.
I had hoped for a truly open and free market, like we have in EVE, with a marketplace fed by players, and with the basics seeded by NPC's. A market that included contracts. We really need those for better handling of trade of items.
What we have now isn't even close.
I really don't see why CCP are trying to reinvent the trade system that has already proven itself in EVE. Not just trade though, but even some game mechanics were redone, and caused significant headaches early on.
There are limitations imposed by the platform, and the fact that an FPS is not like flying a spaceship, but there are so much of the EVE legacy that just didn't make it, and not really because they couldn't do it, much was just renamed.
The last thing that really needs to be done, is to open up the game world. No red zones unless there can be a technical (techno-babble?) excuse for them ie. the capacitor; The suits don't have their own power, and are powered by wireless power transfer from the MCC which have a limited range. More variety. Right now we only touch a handful of planets out of the thousands in New Eden, even then they all feature the same geology. They look at feel the same. They are getting repetitive and boring.
Dust is just about everything EVE isn't.

dust 514 needs to be part of EVE, and to do that, it needs to start following the setting that was laid out for us in the books that led up to dust 514
