Like me, Context is king.
At the time it was announced, there was the understanding that PS3 was the focus, without a doubt, no if ands or buts. Not only was that NOT the case, but it hadn't been the case for quite some time up until FF14.
Then, came the announcement itself. There wasn't one. Suddenly, instead of having all these small events about Dust, which is what we saw on the itinerary, we were getting a bunch of info about Legion, without having any idea what it really was, or what was happening with Dust.
AND ITS NOT EVEN GREENLIT!!
So not only was the "Dust" talks not Dust-centric, but all that was said was that MAYBE they were porting. The natural conclusion, given the dearth of actual communication, was that Dust was dead.
If they had handled it differently, it wouldn't have been such a big deal. If instead of telling us they were focused on the PS3, maybe indicating early on they were considering a port, and how a transition might work, or how Dust would fit into the overall discussion.
Looking at it in present context, what is wanted is some confirmation on the future of a Dust port, which was never what Legion was in the first place. It was, and still is as far as we know, merely a prototype that had no concrete backing.
Let's not forget what FF14 was. It wasn't the announcment of a port (it would have been greenlit had it truly been). It was the announcement of moving on from Dust with no clear direction. If anything, what people are clamoring for is for that clarity.

Stop fantasizing/getting your hopes up.
I can say with a great degree of confidence the OP knows about all that. He has been around the game quite a long time. Since well before FF 14.
My guess is that his optimism is based on a love for the game as well as being heavily invested in the game on several fronts.
I may disagree with his post, but its no reason to assume ignorance or to suggest his optimism has less weight than your pessimism.

I may disagree with his post, but its no reason to assume ignorance or to suggest his optimism has less weight than your pessimism. Since when is it wrong to voice my opinion on this? What's wrong with my post? Did or did not CCP do those things? The only one that seems to suggest to weight anything is you with your post. He can make his believes based on words and I can make mine on previous actions. But if a man can't even voice another view then what's the point of this forum? Circle jerking each other off like most of the people here already do? Here is the thing in other (softer) words: Does DUST get a port? GreatDoesn't DUST get a port? GreatSo yeah I'm a pessimist . If it rains, it rains. I'm no pessimist for saying that it rains. Calling someone's optimism fantasies suggests that your pessimism is somehow more real. That is both a wrong action and an inaccurate statement.
Lets look at what happened post FF14.
We thought the game was over. We had no idea how long they were keeping the lights on, or what would become of Dust.
In comes Rattati, and with merely Hotfixes at his disposal, he does more to balance the game than the entirety of what CCP did prior to his arrival. THEN, at a point when we think we are only getting Hotfixes, and were happy to have them instead of nothing at all, we get updates and new content!
You aren't wrong to say it rains when it rains. But you ARE a pessimist when you ignore the days that it is sunny too.
Then you went so far as to hear someone say its sunny when it is sunny and call it a fantasy. That is hypocritical.
The reality is, there is reason for optimism as well as pessimism, and neither party knows what the future holds. If optimism is a fantasy, its no more or less a fantasy than your pessimism.
